Josh Rutledge clubbed a two-run homer in Friday's loss to the Phillies.
Rutledge, called up Friday to replace Troy Tulowitzki (rib fracture) on the active roster, batted leadoff and started at second base in his return. He figures to also play some shortstop while Tulo is sidelined, though Jonathan Herrera got the start there Friday night. Rutledge struggled prior to being demoted last month, but his power-speed combo makes him worth picking up in deeper mixed leagues.

Rockies optioned 2B Josh Rutledge to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Manager Walt Weiss indicated recently that he was going to stick with Rutledge through his slump, but evidently he had a change of heart. The second baseman sports just a .242/.298/.357 batting line for the season and is hitting only .206/.250/.294 over his last 11 games. The Rox appeared poised to go with D.J. LeMahieu at second base for now.

Rockies placed SS Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list with a right rib fracture.
Tulowitzki had been dealing with rib soreness for a week and aggravated the injury while making a diving stop during Thursday's game. The injury a brutal blow for the Rockies and fantasy owners alike, as the 28-year-old is batting .347/.413/.635 with 16 homers and 51 RBI this season. He's expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

It was Chatwood's first start back from a triceps issue and he looked fairly sharp over his 84 pitches (50 of which were strikes). The righty scattered seven hits and three walks, striking out one. He will carry a 2.33 ERA into his next scheduled outing against the Nationals.

We've read nothing further regarding Cabrera, which probably means he isn't close to a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old lefty was placed on the 60-day disabled list in February. He's eligible for activation, but not healthy enough to pitch. Cabrera ranked as Colorado's ninth best prospect by MLB.com this offseason.

Betancourt will face live hitters on Friday and could then be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. The veteran right-hander will be back in the Rockies' bullpen by the end of this month if everything continues to go smoothly. Rex Brothers is filling in at closer and doing a fine job.
