Stephen Piscotty is absent from the Cardinals' lineup Friday.
It's a routine day off. Jose Martinez will play right field. Daily Slant: While Piscotty isn't an option tonight, Matt Carpenter still provides plenty of upside on the STL side. Carp hasn’t gotten off to a hot start this season, but his numbers against RHP are still fairly strong (.367 wOBA, .176 ISO) after he blasted a HR in last night’s contest. He was an elite bat against RHP last season (.386 wOBA, .262 ISO) and has absolutely owned Wily Peralta over the course of their careers, going 19-41 with 5 2Bs and 3 HRs. Peralta has been much better against RHBs this season which makes the Cardinals somewhat of a tough team to stack, but Carpenter as a stand-alone play is absolutely fine. Dexter Fowler, Aledmys Diaz and Jedd Gyorko are potential stacking partners. Apr 21 - 5:00 PM
