Marlins left-handed pitching prospect threw a complete game shutout for Double-A Jacksonville, scattering five hits while striking out four batters.
In addition to a 3.04 ERA and a 1.047 WHIP, Nicolino is holding opposing batters to a .244/.268/.372 line over his first 15 starts of the 2014 season. He sparkled with Low-A Lansing in 2012, as part of a rotation that included Aaron Sanchez, Noah Sydergaard, and Anthony DeSclafani, but took a step backward in 2013. He could be in line for a promotion to Triple-A New Orleans or Miami later this summer, and could be part of a great rotation in Miami going forward. Jun 22 - 10:12 AM
