Framber Valdez whiffed a season-high nine batters and tossed six innings of one-run ball to pick up a win in relief against the Angels on Sunday.
Valdez entered the contest in the second inning after starter Charlie Morton exited with right shoulder discomfort. The 24-year-old southpaw was brilliant in this one, limiting a Mike Trout-less Angels offense to a single run on three hits and a pair of walks over six frames. A solo homer by Jose Briceno in the sixth inning represented the lone tally against him. With the win, Valez improves to 4-1 with a 2.08 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 33/21 K/BB ratio since being called up from Triple-A Fresno on August 21. Sep 23 - 6:20 PM
