Charlie Villanueva has exercised his $8.6 million player option for the 2013-14 season.
It's a predictable decision which nevertheless stings the Pistons financially. CV settled into a reliable bench role as this season progressed, occasionally catching fire from downtown, but his days of fantasy usefulness have ended. The good news for Detroit is that their two highest-paid players from 2012-13, Jose Calderon and Corey Maggette, are both coming off the books as unrestricted free agents this summer.

Charlie Villanueva was listed as a DNP-CD for Friday's game against the Raptors.
Villanueva missed practice on Thursday due to the flu and it's possible he has simply fallen out of the rotation. He has no fantasy value at this time and we're taking him off the injury report.

Charlie Villanueva is sick and didn't attend practice Thursday.
Villanueva's status for Friday's game is unclear, which clouds his already confusing fantasy value a bit. We'll sideline him for now and label him as day-to-day but just know that Villanueva is not to be trusted in most formats.

Charlie Villanueva, who had 15 points in the fourth quarter on Saturday, hit just 1-of-7 shots for two points, four rebounds and four assists in 14 minutes in Tuesday's loss.
He's been getting some minutes at center and always has the potential to explode off the bench for the hapless Pistons, but putting him into a fantasy lineup is akin to playing with fire.

Jason Maxiell is "hanging in there" after having surgery to repair a detached retina.
Maxiell will not play again this season and has "likely" played his final game with the Pistons. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason and Detroit is set to enter next season with a front line of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond.
