There has been no official announcement from the NBA, but it would make sense for Rondo to go considering the Eastern Conference needs another guard with Johnson unable to play. The campaigning for Josh Smith is in full effect, but Rondo appears to be getting the nod in Johnson's place.

The NBA suspended Rajon Rondo two games for "throwing a ball at an official and striking him in the chest."
Rondo will miss Monday's game against the Mavs and Wednesday's game against the Thunder after his ejection from Sunday's loss to the Pistons. He'll return for the Celtics' first game after the All-Star break. Avery Bradley is expected to start at point guard and Paul Pierce will serve as more of a facilitator.

The NBA is reviewing Rajon Rondo's Sunday ejection to see if additional punishment is warranted.
With three minutes left in the third quarter Sunday, Rondo was whistled for a pair of technical fouls. During the exchange with referee Sean Wright, he tossed the ball underhanded at the ref's stomach. It was Rondo's first career ejection, so perhaps the league office will show leniency. For now, consider the NBA's second-leading assist man questionable for Monday's game in Dallas.

Rajon Rondo was ejected from Sunday's game after arguing a non-call in the third quarter.
Rondo hurled a few obscenities at the ref and was promptly given two technicals. He left the game with five points, 10 assists and six turnovers, a disappointing turn of events for the short-handed Celtics.

Kevin Garnett (personal), who has missed the last two games, is expected to play on Wednesday against the Thunder.
The Celtics desperately need him back as the offense needs all the help it can get. With Rajon Rondo (suspension) and Brandon Bass (knee) both out, Garnett will help to shoulder the scoring load against a very impressive Oklahoma City team. Garnett has provided good value for his owners this season, averaging 14.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks on 49.5 percent shooting.

Bass is feeling inflammation in his troublesome right knee. He's not expected back before the Feb. 23 All-Star break. With Jermaine O'Neal (shoulder) also out, the Celtics were forced to start Kevin Garnett at center and Chris Wilcox at power forward on Sunday.

Jermaine O'Neal (wrist) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game and Greg Stiemsma will start in his place.
O'Neal left Monday's game with the injury and didn't return, and now we know he won't play on Wednesday. He hasn't been a fantasy option in standard sized leagues all year, but his absence leaves a short-handed Celtics team very shallow on the interior with Chris Wilcox (groin) and Brandon Bass (knee) also out. Stiemsma started one game earlier this season and had 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

Chris Wilcox (groin) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Thunder.
Wilcox was not expected to play after injuring himself in Monday's game and is not considered a lock to return after the All-Star break. The veteran has been banged up quite a bit this season but had done a good job filling in for Kevin Garnett recently. Wilcox being on the sidelines thins out the Celtics even further with Rajon Rondo (suspension) also out. JaJuan Johnson stands to take Wilcox's role in the rotation.
