The Cavs are hoping Marreese Speights opts out of his contract, according to the News-Herald.
Per the report, the team fears Speights "might not fit their culture." Wherever Speights has gone, he has shown great flashes of productivity, but there have been relentless questions and concerns about his fit and personality with the culture of the team. If Speights does opt out, he should have no issue finding interested suitors despite the checkered past.

Marreese Speights had 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting, 10 rebounds and one steal vs. Brooklyn, tying Kyrie Irving for the team lead in scoring.
He did his damage in just 22 minutes, and starting center Tyler Zeller added 14 points, but that's where the good news ended for Cleveland. Wayne Ellington shot 2-of-8 for five points, Alonzo Gee was 3-of-8 for nine points, and games like this are the reason Byron Scott's job may be in jeopardy this summer.

Marreese Speights was hot on Monday and matched his career high with 23 points, adding eight boards, two assists, one steal and one block on 11-of-15 shooting in 25 minutes against the Hawks.
He had his jumper working in the fourth and the Cavs kept feeding him. Speights scored 15 points in that frame and he's starting to warm up a bit after a 12-point game on Sunday. However, he's basically in a timeshare with Tyler Zeller (12 points and two boards in 20 minutes) and neither player are worthy of ownership in standard leagues.

Marreese Speights had 13 points, six rebounds, a steal and a block in just 17 minutes on Wednesday.
He's shown flashes at times this season, but without a reliable 25 minutes per night, there's no reason to own him in most leagues.

Anderson Varejao recently developed a blood clot in his lung and is out for the season.
A bad break gets worse for Varejao, who is now officially done for the season, according to the Cavs. Varejao just had surgery for a small split in his right quad, and he is expected to remain at the Cleveland Clinic to be treated and monitored. The good news is that he's expected to make a full recovery. This locks Tristan Thompson and Tyler Zeller in as the starting frontcourt for the remainder of the season. Thompson is averaging 10.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.7 blocks as the starting power forward, while Zeller is averaging 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks as the starting center.
