New Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said at his introductory press conference that Brandon Knight can be either a point guard or a shooting guard.
"Brandon has some PG skills, he has some two-guard skills...I'm not gonna label Brandon as just a PG," Cheeks said. It's obvious that the team will experiment with him at both guard spots again during the offseason, but his future with the team in terms of where he'll play will largely depend on whether or not the team re-signs Jose Calderon.

ESPN's Chad Ford says the Pistons think Brandon Knight might be most effective as a shooting guard.
Knight started off last season at the point, but slid over to the off guard spot after the Jose Calderon trade. Knight has never been a pure passer, as evidenced by his meager 3.9 career assists per game in 31.9 minutes. He's also not a pure shooting guard at a slight 6'3/189 with an inconsistent jumper. Knight's 2013-14 role won't be clear until impending free agent Calderon finds a home.

The Pistons are "closing in on a choice between" Mo Cheeks and Nate McMillan as their new head coach, according to ESPN.com.
Cheeks headed to Detroit this weekend for a "third-stage interview" and he has reportedly earned the confidence of Pistons president Joe Dumars. McMillan, meanwhile, has been mentioned as a candidate for numerous coaching jobs this summer and was most recently linked to the Clippers.

Pistons strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander wants to work with Brandon Knight on his "process for changing speeds."
"Slowing way, way down. Getting better at the task, but more importantly getting better at what’s between tasks," Kander said. "The greats, they have incredible control, with the hesitation, holding the ball, lulling you and then exploding." Knight has a ways to go to develop his point guard skills, but the comments from Kander would seemingly indicate that the team wants Knight to develop at point guard after flirting with him at shooting guard last season. According to team beat writer Keith Langlois, Knight's role for next season is uncertain.

Jason Maxiell is "hanging in there" after having surgery to repair a detached retina.
Maxiell will not play again this season and has "likely" played his final game with the Pistons. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason and Detroit is set to enter next season with a front line of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond.
