Chris Webber and his partners have submitted a letter of interest to the NBA in hopes of buying the Atlanta Hawks.
Webber would be the face of the group and has a good relationship with current NBA players. If his group does land the Hawks, the hope is that Webber would be able to attract some star talent to the ATL. Danny Ferry is on leave from the organization and is not expected to regain control of basketball operations after his insensitive racial comments made in June were made public this summer.

The Kings and Chris Webber have "had discussions" about a role with the team, but he is not a candidate for the GM job.
It's not clear what Webber's role would be if he were brought into the fold, but it's interesting to note if nothing else. Vivek Ranadive is determined to make the Kings relevant again under his ownership.

The Kings owners, Joe and Gavin Maloof, continue to push for shorter guaranteed contracts in the NBA, citing Chris Webber's max deal in 2001 (seven years, $122 million) as an example of a franchise-killing contract.
Their point is taken, even though nobody forced the Kings to pay Webber $122 million. The Maloofs are not willing to sacrifice the season as they need momentum to rebuild the fan base and get a new arena built in Sacramento.

Chris Webber, still rehabbing his injured left knee, officially announced on Tuesday that he is retiring from the game of basketball.
Webber, a five-time All-Star, is hoping to stay involved with professional basketball and is interested in being a television commentator and analyst. He is remembered as one of the best passing big men of his era, a skill regularly on display during his best years as a member of the Sacramento Kings.

Stephen Curry
Sidelined
Steve Kerr said that Stephen Curry (knee) won't be coming back "anytime soon."
Kerr did say that Curry has been coming along well, and that he looked good at Saturday's practice, but he still has "a few limitations" that he's trying to work through. The good news is that he hasn't been experiencing any pain in his left knee, and while Kerr did say he's "on track," he wouldn't commit to an official timetable. He's scheduled to be re-evaluated on April 27, but it doesn't sound like he'll be ready for Game 1 of Round 2.

Patrick McCaw
Sidelined
Patrick McCaw (back) still can't sleep at night due to the pain he's in as a result of his injury.
McCaw's injury was incredibly scary and he isn't even expected to be reevaluated until the beginning of May, so we'd be surprised to see him return during the playoffs even if Golden State again makes it to the Finals. McCaw also admitted that he's still haunted by the devastating fall and is just glad he can still walk after temporarily losing sensation in his lower half, so the mental recovery aspect will be very real for the second-year pro as well.
