Kobe Bryant (Achilles) says he's aiming to return to game action at some point in November or December.
Kobe said Wednesday he's fully mobile aside from being unable to run still. More importantly though, this is the first time we've heard Bryant admit he probably won't be ready for opening night after undergoing surgery on a torn Achilles on April 13. The normal recovery timetable for such an injury is six to nine months and a December return would slot right into the middle of that timeline. We'll have to see how Kobe progresses over the summer before coming anywhere close to a realistic return timetable.

A source tells ESPN Los Angeles that Kobe Bryant wants to play at least two more seasons.
Kobe is coming off an Achilles' tendon tear and entering the final year of a contract that will pay him $30.4 million in 2013-14. Working out an extension will be difficult, but it's hard to see the Lakers turning their back on one of the greatest players in NBA history. Bryant will turn 35 in August.

Lakers trainer Gary Vitti said Kobe Bryant (Achilles' surgery) "looks exactly the way he's supposed to look at this point in time."
Bryant is now two full months removed from the surgery to repair his torn left Achilles' tendon. His goal is to be ready for Opening Night of the 2013-14 season, but it's far too early tell whether that's realistic. For now, all we know is that Kobe's rehab is on track.

Mike Trudell on Twitter
Kobe Bryant talked about playing "next year and the year after that" in a an interview on ESPN Radio.
"My goal is to win more than five," Bryant said while discussing the Spurs. "If [Tim Duncan] does win five, hopefully that pushes our organization upstairs to be even more determined and more driven to make the necessary expenses to make sure we continue the next year and the year after that." It's nice to hear that Kobe has his heart set on playing in a couple years, but there wasn't much of a doubt that Kobe would retire after his contract next year given his competitive nature. Bryant added that he's "walking somewhat like a baby giraffe" and his rehab is coming along well. The Black Mamba is still targeting the 2013-14 opener.

Steve Nash
Sidelined
Lakers trainer Gary Vitti suggested that Steve Nash should be on a tight minutes cap next season.
Nash is expected to show up to training camp for the 2013-14 season at 100 percent. The problem is that he'll turn 40 years old in February, and is no longer capable of chasing the league's point guards around screens. Nash just gets too beat up. "Figure out the appropriate minutes that put him in a successful situation," Vitti said. "The example I use is Robert Horry, where we played him a lot of minutes, and it was difficult for him to recover and be productive at his age. But he goes to San Antonio, plays 18 minutes a game, and the guy was an unbelievable force off the bench for them. I think if we figure out how best to use Steve, he can be the same way." Nash is going to be a low-upside fantasy play next season.

Jodie Meeks
Sidelined
Jodie Meeks says his ankle should be OK in 4-6 weeks.
Meeks suffered a partial ligament tear in his ankle and only played in Game 1 of the Lakers' opening-round series loss, but he should be fine for training camp. "[The ankle] feels all right," he said in late April. "I will have a full recovery and I will be ready for next season."

Antawn Jamison
Sidelined
Antawn Jamison finally had his exit interview with GM Mitch Kupchak on Thursday, a source told ESPN Los Angeles.
No matter how it's spun publicly, Jamison won't be back with the Lakers next season. He clashed with Mike D'Antoni, never lived up to the hype and averaged a measly 9.4 points.

Pau Gasol
Sidelined
Lakers trainer Gary Vitti said Pau Gasol (knees) has zero pain in his left tendon and is almost pain-free in his right tendon.
The stem cell injections Gasol received in each of his knees weren't especially invasive, so the rehab should be rapid. Still, he's just one month into a three-month rest period. Gasol's health will be a story to watch at training camp.
