Mark Cuban described his sales pitch to top-tier free agents as, "You're going to work with us and Dirk [Nowitzki] to get out there and pick your team."
"We're not going to try to fool you and say that you and Dirk and Shawn Marion and Vince [Carter] and fill are basically a championship team," said Cuban. "[But] you get to come in and, it's you and we have room for two more max free agents [next year]." He also said that the Mavericks don't have any restricted FAs on their radar this summer, which seemingly rules out offer sheets for Nikola Pekovic, Brandon Jennings, Jeff Teague, Gerald Henderson and Tyreke Evans, among others.

Dirk Nowitzki is cutting short his annual trip to Germany this summer.
Nowitzki normally spends 2-3 months across the pond, spending time with family and working out. This year, he's only taking a couple weeks. Dirk wants to be in Dallas to help with recruiting free agents and he wants to be sure his 35-year-old knees are healthy for the start of the season. He played in just 53 games last season, the fewest since his rookie year back in 1998-99.

Dirk Nowitzki said "it's time to take a step forward and again be a threat in the playoffs" when asked about his thoughts on the Mavericks free agency plan.
Nowitzki made it clear that one-year deals like the Mavs did last offseason won't work. Dirk will turn 35 in the middle of June, and he's not exactly in the prime of his career anymore. With his contract set to expire at the end of next season, Nowitzki anticipates his next deal will be for two or three years. For what it's worth, Nowitzki also said that he'd be thrilled to have either Chris Paul or Dwight Howard on his team, but the Mavs remain a long shot for both players.

Dirk Nowitzki said he would be OK with taking a paycut next offseason if it helped the Mavs lure big-time free agents to Dallas this year.
Nowitzki also said he planned to be a part of the team's pitches to potential free agents, particularly Chris Paul and Dwight Howard. It's not exactly a surprising statement from an aging veteran who saw this year that he needs elite-level help to win another title. The Mavs have plenty of cap space already, but an extra bit from Dirk next summer could help the team round out roster in the long term and sell Paul or Howard on a four- or five-year plan.

Roddy Beaubois underwent successful hand surgery on Wednesday and is out for the season.
The odds of Beaubois returning are "extremely slim," so we'll consider him out for the season for all intents and purposes. Beaubois will be a free agent in the offseason, and it's hard to see him returning to the Mavs. Dallas will roll with Mike James and Darren Collison at point guard.
