Manu Ginobili responded brilliantly to a surprise start in Game 5, scoring a season-high 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting, with 10 assists and one steal.
Ginobili set the tone with a vintage flurry of points and assists to start the game, quickly justifying Gregg Popovich's decision to match Miami's small lineup. He entered Game 5 averaging 7.5 points in the Finals, talking about retirement, and being relentlessly questioned in the national media, but he left to adoring chants of "Ma-nu, Ma-nu," with his team one win away from another NBA championship.

The Heat are once again starting Mike Miller over Udonis Haslem, and Gregg Popovich is matching up with a small-ball lineup featuring Tony Parker, Manu, Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard, with Tim Duncan in the middle. Spurs fans will welcome anything that jump-starts Ginobili, who is shooting 34.5 percent in the Finals.

Tony Parker says it's only a matter of time before Manu Ginobili has a big game.
Ginobili has been flat-out bad during the NBA Finals, averaging 7.5 points, 3.0 assists and 1.5 rebounds and shooting 34.4 percent from the field. Manu swears his body is healthy and teammates and coaches say it's just a matter of him finding a groove. Ginobili has historically been a big-time postseason performer, which makes his poor playoffs an even bigger surprise. If Manu is suddenly going to turn it on, he's only got two or three games left to do so.

Manu Ginobili said his health is not the reason for his poor play during the Finals.
Through four games, Ginobili is averaging 7.5 points, 3.0 assists and 1.5 rebounds. He's shooting just 34.4 percent and has even had trouble with his ball handling. "My body is not the issue here," Ginobili insisted. "If I'm not playing good, it's just because I'm not playing good. Not because my body is limiting me." Perhaps Manu is simply way over the hill as he'll turn 36 next month.
