Carmelo Anthony poured in a game-high 39 points in a futile effort on Saturday, as the Knicks' season ended with a physical Game 6 loss to the Pacers.
Melo came in shooting 41.3 percent in the series. He finished tonight's game 15-of-29 from the field and 8-of-8 from the FT line, but he couldn't win the game by himself. The reigning scoring champ is likely to have a familiar supporting cast next season -- mid-season pickup Kenyon Martin is New York's biggest unrestricted free agent, while J.R. Smith has a $2.9 million player option, Chris Copeland will likely be a restricted free agent, and Pablo Prigioni has an affordable qualifying offer.

Carmelo Anthony shot 12-of-28 from the field for 28 points with six boards, one steal and one 3-pointer during an 85-75 victory over the Pacers on Thursday.
The Knicks weren't exactly spectacular in this game, making 41.0 percent of their shots and only handing out 12 assists on their 32 field goals. They kept their turnovers down and really just allowed the Pacers to keep shooting themselves in the foot. Anthony used his normal attack with a litany of jumpers, but unlike the last two games, they were falling for him. The Knicks will try and tie the series in Indiana on Saturday.

Carmelo Anthony hit 9-of-23 shots and two 3-pointers for 24 points, nine rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in Tuesday's ugly Game 4 loss at Indiana.
The Pacers lead the series 3-1 and need to win just one more game to send the Knicks packing. Melo hasn't hit a field goal in the fourth quarter of the last two games, which will have to change if they have any hope of coming back and winning three straight games against the defensive-minded Pacers.

Carmelo Anthony reiterated that he'll "continue to take those shots" he feels he should be taking.
Anthony also brushed aside any "controversy" regarding Tyson Chandler's comments about the Knicks moving the ball and not getting into a stagnant flow on offense, but the key takeaway here is that Anthony won't let criticism deter him from playing his usual style of basketball.
