Owner Mark Wilf confirmed that the Vikings will begin contract extension talks with coach Leslie Frazier.
Frazier won't have to enter the 2013 season as a lame duck after improving from 3-13 to 10-6 in his second year as head coach. "We feel we made a lot of great strides in 2012," said Wilf. "It was a great season, obviously a disappointing ending. But we feel we have a foundation and a strong core for the future here." It helps that Frazier enjoys a strong relationship with GM Rick Spielman.

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities believes it is "only a matter of time" before Vikings coach Leslie Frazier signs a contract extension.
Frazier is signed through only 2013, but will undoubtedly be re-upped. The Vikings entered 2012 as the consensus fourth-place team in the NFC North, but are now just a win over the Packers away from their first playoff appearance since the 2009 season. Frazier's defense is 11th in points against (20.9), and 16th in yards allowed (346.3). If not for quarterback Christian Ponder's inconsistent play, the Vikings could have perhaps been going for their 11th or 12th win on Sunday.

Vikings media relations director Bob Hagan insists there is "no truth" to the New York Post report that the team essentially gave Bill Parcells a blank check to take over football operations.
Previous reports suggest the Vikings did have serious interest in Parcells at one time, but the embers died out when their fervor went unrequited. Parcells' camp then took that former interest to the Post in an attempt at leverage over the Saints, only to end up with egg on the face.

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports the Vikings did approach Bill Parcells, but it "didn't happen recently" and the sides are no longer talking.
The St. Paul Pioneer-Press and NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora both confirm ESPN 1500 Twin Cities' account that Parcells will not be joining the Vikings. Owner Zygi Wilf has been a fan of the Big Tuna dating back to the dominant 1980s Giants squads, but the rebuilding Vikings have little appeal to a 71-year-old coach. The Saints are "still in the mix," reports LaCanfora. The original New York Post report screams of a leverage ploy by Parcells to squeeze more money out of New Orleans.

Vikings WR Greg Childs (torn patellar tendons) is up to 225 pounds.
Childs is listed at 217 on the team's official website, but what makes it so much more impressive is that he had dipped all the way to 180 last winter. Childs was recovering from double patellar tendon tears, and the pain medicine made him sick to his stomach. He's now lifting "crazy weight, like lineman weight" as his recovery is ongoing. Childs could be medically cleared for the start of training camp, but any contributions in 2013 would be a surprise.
