Tom Brady says he's "never had more confidence in how I am throwing the football."
Brady says he's cleaned up his mechanics with the help of QBs guru Tom House. "Over the years, I was a little inefficient and I learned how to get away with it," Brady said. "I've been working (on) what's called ground-force production ... Getting the power from the ground, which translates from the ground to your legs, to your hips, to the shoulder, and all the energy is going toward the target." Going on 36, Brady's arm strength isn't quite what it used to be, but it hasn't mattered as he's averaged 4,654 passing yards and a 36:8 TD:INT ratio over his past three seasons. He's locked in as a top-five fantasy QB.

Steelers S Ryan Clark said Tom Brady "sees ghosts" when his receivers get bumped and he's under pressure.
Clark made the comments while serving as a guest analyst on ESPN. "Even when guys aren't around him, even when he's not about to be sacked, when his clock goes off in his head that the ball should be out, we'll see him duck, we'll see him flinch. When you get Tom Brady doing that, the whole New England Patriots mystique goes away." In six career regular-season games against the Steelers, Brady has posted a 103.7 passer rating, averaged 314.0 yards per game and thrown 14 touchdowns against three interceptions.

A source close to Tom Brady — not Brady himself — tells CSN New England he/she is "beyond enraged" at the Patriots letting Wes Welker leave for two years and $12 million, and feels it is a "disgrace" and a "disservice."
Again, these are apparently the thoughts of the actual source, and not Brady himself. It was initially believed the source was relaying Brady's direct feelings. Regardless, Brady didn't renegotiate his deal to free up $8.2 million in 2013 cap space so the Patriots could let his favorite target walk for less than what Brian Hartline is making. It's business as usual for the Pats, but Brady clearly thought his new deal would make for an exception with his slot machine. Brady himself has been "enraged" at Pats moves before, but the effects of this one could be long-lasting. New England's braintrust has some explaining to do.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft insists Tom Brady's new five-year, $60 million contract is a "real deal" the sides aren't already planning to renegotiate down the line.
"Look at our track record," Kraft implored. "We don't do fake deals. The contract we have with Tom Brady is a real contract we will both live by." It strains belief that Brady is willing to play for less than $10 million in each of the final three years of his contract, but Kraft insists that's the case. We're unlikely to get an answer before 2015.

ESPN Boston agrees with the Boston Herald that Patriots WR Julian Edelman is not a lock for a roster spot.
The Patriots waited nearly a month before re-signing Edelman to a contract that includes no guaranteed money, while a setback with his troublesome foot has him questionable for the beginning of camp. Edelman's experience in the Patriots' system and special-teams prowess should give him a leg up on the likes of Donald Jones, Lavelle Hawkins and Michael Jenkins, but only if he's healthy.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft confirmed Rob Gronkowski's fourth arm surgery went "as good as he could have hoped."
Per Kraft, Gronk will be back "as soon as possible." Right now, "as soon as possible" appears to be mid-August. That's because Gronk is tentatively slated for "minor" back surgery some time in the next 3-4 weeks. Like Robert Griffin III, Gronk's Week 1 status will be hard to accurately gauge before training camp.

ESPN Boston reports that "word is" Aaron Hernandez (shoulder) can expect a four-month recovery period.
Hernandez underwent a "minor scope" almost three weeks ago, and he is not expected to participate in OTAs or minicamp. It's possible he could even open training camp on the PUP list. There remains plenty of time for Hernandez to be ready for Week 1. The Patriots will likely bring him along slowly.
