8/13/2009: Signed a seven-year, $106.9 million contract. The deal contains $35 million guaranteed, including a $13 million signing bonus, a second-year option bonus of $12.5 million, and all but $1 million of Manning's 2009-2011 base salaries. Eli Manning attributed a large portion of the Giants' disappointing 2012 season on offense to having Hakeem Nicks at significantly less than 100 percent.
"I think not having Hakeem 100 percent for most of the season, really the last 10 weeks, can hurt," Eli said. "And he’s out there playing hurt, and you love that toughness about it, that he wants to be out there. But it just made it tough when you’re starting a receiver who’s gotta win one-on-one matchups and your deep threat and your playmaker all of a sudden kinda isn’t making the deep plays and the big plays. It can be tough to adjust to that. And I think just our timing was off."

Eli Manning completed 13-of-21 passes for 208 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions in the Giants' 42-7 Week 17 win over the Eagles.
Too little, too late for both Eli's fantasy owners and the Giants' playoff hopes. Hampered by a wicked midseason slump and a season-long injury to Hakeem Nicks, Manning managed just 3,948 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. Seven of those scores came in two games against the Eagles' atrocious secondary. It's the first time he's finished under 4,000 yards or 27 touchdowns since 2008. With a plentiful assortment of more explosive and consistent quarterbacks in the league right now, Manning will be a clear-cut QB2 in 2013 fantasy circles.

Eli Manning completed just 14-of-28 passes for 150 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Giants' Week 16 loss to the Ravens.
For the second straight week, Manning looked nothing short of inept. The offensive line couldn't protect him, he threw some ducks and his lone touchdowns didn't come until the Giants were down 33-7. Over the last two weeks, Manning has totaled 311 yards and one touchdown. The Giants are virtually eliminated from the playoff chase heading into a regular season finale against the Eagles.

Eli Manning completed 13-of-25 passes for 161 yards and two interceptions at Atlanta in Week 15.
Credit Falcons DC Mike Nolan with another excellent game plan. Manning was under duress all afternoon, unable to get any good looks down the field. When he wasn't settling for dumpoffs, Manning put his team behind the eight-ball with a pair of early-game interceptions. It's the first time in Eli's regular-season career that he's been shut out. He has another tough matchup at Baltimore in Week 16.

Hakeem Nicks isn't commenting on contract talks.
"I don't really negotiate my contract in the media," said Nicks. "Let my agent do that. I just play football." The 2009 first-round pick is entering a contract year. The Giants are highly unlikely to let Nicks walk, but his history of leg injuries could compel them to adopt a deliberate pace in talks. Nicks would be a strong candidate for the franchise tag if no long-term deal is reached.
