Jaguars agreed to terms with franchise player K Josh Scobee on a four-year, $13.8 million contract.
Scobee's $3.45 million annual salary and $4.75 million in guarantees exceed the totals of Matt Prater and Connor Barth, who were also franchise-tagged. In addition to an NFL-high 71-yard average on kickoffs, Scobee drilled 92 percent of his field-goal attempts in 2011, including an impressive 5-of-6 over 50 yards. Jacksonville's kicker since 2004, Scobee was the offense's most valuable weapon behind Maurice Jones-Drew last season.

The Jaguars continued negotiations with unsigned franchise player Josh Scobee over the weekend.
The two sides have been steadily talking for two weeks now as Monday's 4 p.m. ET deadline approaches. Scobee is likely seeking something in the range of Matt Prater's recent four-year, $13 million contract with the Broncos. If no deal is hammered out, Scobee will kick for $2.88 million on a one-year franchise tag.

The Jaguars have resumed contract talks with unsigned franchise player Josh Scobee.
Scobee's agent said in late June that the sides hadn't spoken in "months," so the Jags now appear to be operating with urgency 12 days before the deadline for franchise players to sign long-term deals. Matt Prater's recent four-year, $13 million contract has given the sides a baseline from which to work. Prater's deal included $4.25 million guaranteed with a $3 million signing bonus.

Unsigned franchise player Josh Scobee suggested a training-camp holdout is possible after the Jaguars cut off contract talks in April.
Scobee is just blowing off steam because he doesn't believe the organization is negotiating in good faith. Although he's not sure if he will attend camp, Scobee concedes that missing regular-season action isn't a viable option. Like all franchise players, he has zero leverage.

Aaron's younger brother, Rodgers is competing with fellow undrafted QB Matt Scott for No. 3 duties. This gives the more-talented Scott another leg up in a competition the Jaguars would likely prefer him to win.

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) said his goal is to resume full-scale workouts in the month ahead of training camp.
Jones-Drew didn't practice with the Jags during Monday's OTAs. Instead, he ran 30-yard dashes at three-quarters speed. "Lately, it's been one day on, a day off, two days on, a day off — it's part of the process," he said. "I'm closer than I think. I just want to take my time and make sure we do it the right way." Rehab from Lisfranc surgery is nothing to be brushed off lightly. We'll be watching MJD's progress closely as he enters a contract year.

Coach Gus Bradley said he's giving suspended WR Justin Blackmon a clean slate.
Blackmon has two DUI arrests and a four-game substance-abuse violation on his resume since 2010. But none of that occurred while Bradley was in contact with the 2012 No. 5 overall pick. The pair is having regular conversations as Blackmon tries to stabilize his life and career. "He's never done anything wrong with me. It'd be different if I was talking to him and I didn't feel like we were connecting at all. I do feel a connection," Bradley said.

During his first official practice with the Jaguars, Brackett sustained a serious knee injury. The pass-catching tight end will need to regain full speed and burst before he can hope for a 2013 roster spot. The Jags re-signed Colin Cloherty to take Brackett's roster spot.
