Covered by Asante Samuel, Jackson took a backseat to Mike Williams in the passing game. The rare example of a successful high-dollar free agent signing, Jackson provided Josh Freeman with a true No. 1 receiver while enabling Williams to exploit single coverage for a bounce-back season. V-Jax posted a career-best 72/1,384/8 stat line while finishing as a top-10 fantasy receiver for the third time. He's worthy of WR1 consideration in 2013 drafts.

Bucs restructured the contracts of WR Vincent Jackson and LG Carl Nicks in order to free up nearly $18 million in cap space for 2013.
Jackson was scheduled to earn a base salary of $13 million in 2013, but Tampa Bay turned $12.16 million of that into a 2012 roster bonus that will be prorated over the life of the contract. The cap hit for Jackson next season now sits at $3.472 million. Nicks was set to earn a base salary of $12.5 million in 2013, but the Bucs followed the same strategy and turned $11.785 million of it into a 2012 bonus.

Vincent Jackson caught seven passes for 108 yards in Tampa's Week 16 loss to the Rams.
V-Jax drew a whopping 15 targets, which was still two fewer looks than Mike Williams garnered. Jackson entered halftime with four catches for 45 yards, but racked up 63 of his yards after the Bucs fell behind 28-6 early in the third quarter. That is not to imply Jackson is a garbage-time superstar, however, as Tampa's $55.5 million man has been worth every penny this season. He'll enter Week 17 with a 69/1,334/8 line, and five 100-yard performances. Even with an inconsistent Josh Freeman throwing him passes, V-Jax will enter 2013 as a locked-in WR1.

Vincent Jackson caught six passes for a team-high 81 yards in Sunday's Week 15 blowout loss to the Saints.
Jackson was targeted a game-high 12 times, but he didn't catch a single pass until late in the third quarter when the game was well out of hand. V-Jax saw a couple of end zone balls come his way, but he couldn't reel in any of the jump balls. The entire Tampa Bay offense was a complete mess right out of the gate, but they'll look to get on track against the Rams at home in Week 16.
