The Palm Beach Post thinks Dolphins LG Richie Incognito "might" have to compete with third-round rookie G/T Dallas Thomas for the left guard job.
Incognito, 30 in July, has started 47-of-48 games since joining the Dolphins, and he has just one year left on his deal. Pro Football Focus graded Incognito out as its No. 14 left guard in 2012. The Dolphins can save $4.3 million against the cap by releasing him. Thomas is a natural fit for Miami's zone-blocking scheme.

Dolphins LG Richie Incognito is a candidate for offseason release.
A poor fit for Joe Philbin's zone scheme, Incognito is due $4 million in 2013 and doesn't have a long-term future with the Dolphins. He won't be guaranteed a roster spot if Miami upgrades its line in the draft or free agency. Pro Football Focus graded Incognito as the No. 24 overall guard in their year-end ratings.

Dolphins LG Richie Incognito left Sunday's game against the Jets with a neck injury.
Nate Garner replaces him in the lineup. Incognito finished as a slightly below average left guard according to Pro Football Focus. He will not return for the remainder of the game.

Dolpins LG Richie Incognito (ankle) is expected to return to game action this week.
Nate Garner shined as a spot starter last week, but Incognito's ankle has "responded real well to the treatment" the past few days. Center Mike Pouncey (neck) is also expected to play after returning to a full practice Thursday.

Daniel Thomas believes he's a legitimate contender for the Dolphins' starting running back job.
Thomas must not be watching much of his own film. "I don’t know why (Lamar Miller) would have the inside track," Thomas said incredulously Tuesday. "It’s an open competition. Everybody has a fair shot. The best player is going to get the job. Nobody has a leg up." Thomas does admit he's been "inconsistent" since being the No. 62 overall pick of the 2011 draft. All signs suggest the Dolphins want and expect Miller to be their No. 1 back.
