Reggie Bush has been part of the Lions' rotation on punt returns in OTAs.
Shortly after Bush's signing, coach Jim Schwartz said Bush would be an option on returns. Bush was an explosive return man in New Orleans, but hasn't been featured on special teams since 2010. Bush has proven more durable in recent seasons, but the Lions would be risking his health by using him on punts. We doubt the plan comes to pass in the regular season.

Reggie Bush believes the Lions' offense is a "lot like" the Saints'.
"It’s a lot of spread-open passing," Bush said. "Obviously we can attack downfield, and with the running game, a lot of screens, draws and stuff like that. Basically what I did in New Orleans." He's not off-base, and it's one of the reasons we believe coach Jim Schwartz was realistic when he predicted Bush could catch as many as 80 passes this season. He's going to be a PPR dynamo.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz believes Reggie Bush could catch as many as 80 passes in 2013.
That would have led all running backs in 2012, but we don't think it's an outrageous prediction. Lowly Joique Bell managed to catch 52 passes in the Lions' high-powered attack last season despite having zero previous career touches, and the Lions have said they'd like to utilize Bush the way he was with the Saints. Bush averaged 59 catches his five years in New Orleans despite missing 20 games. Bush is a legitimate threat to lead running backs in receptions this season, and has RB1 potential in PPR leagues.

Coach Jim Schwartz says the Lions plan to use Reggie Bush as he was utilized by Sean Payton in New Orleans.
"Our plan for him is a little bit different than (the Dolphins used Bush), maybe going back to a little more the way he was used with the New Orleans Saints," said Schwartz. "We think he can have a greater impact on the game when we give him the ball on his terms -- on our terms -- rather than running the ball into hard-eight boxes." Bush averaged 59 receptions per year with the Saints. We'd also anticipate Bush flirting with 200 carries in Detroit.

Mikel Leshoure is being held out of team drills at Lions OTAs with an undisclosed injury.
"He's battling some stuff," coach Jim Schwartz said. "He can do some individual stuff but he's not ready to do any team work." There are no indications that the injury is serious, but it's worrisome news for a player who's had trouble staying healthy since being drafted. Leshoure can ill-afford more leg ailments after plodding through 2012. For now, Leshoure remains penciled in as the Lions' short-yardage "specialist" despite last season's anemic 3.71 yards per carry.

MLive.com considers Ryan Broyles a breakout candidate this season.
Broyles is recovering from a torn right ACL, and the Lions' only notable offseason receiver addition was sixth-round pick Corey Fuller. They must feel comfortable with Broyles' progress. In a six-game stretch last season, Broyles caught 21 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns. Broyles is questionable for Week 1, but once he's back he'll have a ton of potential in the Lions' high-powered attack while working opposite Megatron.
