7/30/2011: Signed a five-year, $45.25 million contract. The deal contains $24 million guaranteed -- including $7.25 million in upfront bonuses, all of Holmes' first- and second-year base salaries, and $7.5 million of his 2013 salary. Holmes has been at Ohio State during the first set of Jets minicamps, taking classes and rehabbing his Lisfranc fracture. He admitted he couldn't play if there was a game this week, and may not even be a full go at training camp. Even if Holmes does get back to 100 percent, he should not be considered a starter in fantasy circles. He has recorded one 100-yard day in his last 20 games.

The NY Daily News and Yahoo! Sports agree with ESPN New York that Santonio Holmes won't be back with the Jets in 2014.
After restructuring his contract last month, Holmes is set to count $10.75 million against the cap in 2014. Beat writer Manish Mehta says the Jets won't keep him around at
that
price, while Jason Cole of Yahoo! says Gang Green likely won't keep him at
any
price. The 29-year-old is coming off Lisfranc surgery. The Jets could be eyeing his eventual successor in the draft.

ESPN New York believes Santonio Holmes (foot surgery) is likely entering his last season with the Jets.
Holmes was a candidate to be released this offseason but agreed to restructure his contract. With a $10.75 million cap hit in 2014, he won't be returning with the Jets next season. Holmes still isn't completely over Lisfranc surgery and is questionable for training camp.

Santonio Holmes (foot surgery) is expected to be "brought along slowly" in training camp.
Holmes sustained the dreaded Lisfranc fracture in Week 4 of last season and has had two surgeries since. It's the kind of injury that has a tendency to linger -- especially for players that rely on sharp cuts and speed. Even before the injury, Holmes was a bench player in fantasy. He's averaging 3.5 catches for 46.3 yards with nine touchdowns over his last 20 games.

Jets WR Stephen Hill admits he didn't "understand the whole football concept" as a rookie.
That could be a problem. Hill also admits he was bothered by the intense media scrutiny. "We’re always on ESPN for something, and it was just a lot," Hill said. "It put pressure on learning, and then having to explain if I messed up, so that’s where most of the pressure was. ... It probably did throw me off during games, you’re just out there running." Hill has been put on notice by coach Rex Ryan, but WRs coach Sanjay Lal believes he could have a big year: "He can be whoever he wants to be." A large part of Hill's progress will depend on who's under center.
