The Nashville Tennessean expects the Titans to start Bernard Pollard over George Wilson at strong safety.
Wilson is the better all-around safety, but the Titans want more physicality at the box-safety position across from finesse FS Michael Griffin. DC Jerry Gray has left open the possibility of three-safety sets, which is not an abnormal NFL defensive look. It's one way to match up with offenses' two-tight end packages.

Titans signed SS Bernard Pollard, formerly of the Ravens, to a one-year contract.
Pollard is one of the most fearsome head-hunters in the league and led the Ravens in tackles last year, but there's a reason he's on his fourth team in seven years. Previous reports stated the 28-year-old is a problem in the locker room and nearly staged a mutiny in Baltimore last year. He also struggles mightily in coverage, where ProFootballFocus ranked him 68th among 85 qualifying safeties. Pollard will give the Titans some toughness as he steps in ahead of George Wilson opposite Michael Griffin, but there's more name than game here.

The Titans had one of the leakiest secondaries in the league last season. If the Titans signed Pollard, George Wilson would likely become the No. 3 safety.

Ravens released SS Bernard Pollard.
The purge continues in Baltimore. The hard-hitting Pollard had a $3.25 million cap figure and a $500K roster bonus in 2013, but was a core piece of the defense and is just 28 years old. The Super Bowl Champs have now lost a stunning six starters off their 2012 defense. Perhaps they're preparing to make an offer to retain Ed Reed. Pollard will not hurt for suitors after racking up 98 tackles, two sacks, one interception and six pass breakups in 13 starts a year ago.

Walter has barely practiced since signing in April, and is starting to hurt his roster chances. At this point, Walter might need Tennessee to renege on its promise of keeping Nate Washington to have a real shot at making the 53-man roster.

Second-round WR Justin Hunter (hamstring) isn't participating in Titans minicamp.
It means barring an unexpected return on Wednesday or Thursday, the No. 34 overall pick will go into training camp having missed all of OTAs. His toughness has already been questioned by WRs coach Shawn Jefferson, so it's safe to assume coach Mike Munchak isn't thrilled, either. Perhaps it's why Munchak has insisted Nate Washington remains in the Titans' plans after it was previously believed he was good as gone.

Coach Mike Munchak said KR/WR Marc Mariani (leg) has been "amazing" through spring workouts.
Mariani sustained a compound fracture in his left leg during the preseason last year. He's not 100 percent yet, but appears to be getting close. Mariani holds a career average of 24.8 yards per kickoff return and 11.2 yards per punt return. Darius Reynaud averaged 23.4 yards on kickoff returns and 13.2 yards on punt returns last season, and has since been re-signed to a one-year contract.
