3/22/2012: Signed a four-year, $14 million contract. The deal contains $6.45 million guaranteed -- a $4 million signing bonus, $900,000 of Bush's first-year salary, and $1.1 million of his second-year salary. Bush is eligible for annual $50,000 workout bonuses throughout the contract's life. 2012: $950,000, 2013: $1.5 million (+ $1 million roster bonus), 2014: $2.8 million, 2015: $3.55 million, 2016: Free Agent

Michael Bush understands that his role behind Matt Forte won't be any different the role he played as Darren McFadden's backup with the Raiders.
Bush took no offense when Forte said he felt "disrespected" by his signing. "When (Forte) gets here, I mean, to me my role doesn't change, as it was in Oakland," Bush said. "(Forte) is in, he gets tired, he goes out. I come back in or whatever." Bush will likely handle the bulk of the goal-line carries, but his primary fantasy value is as a handcuff to Forte.

Updating a previous item, coach Lovie Smith indicated Michael Bush will have a role similar to that of Marion Barber in 2011.
The one difference is Bush will be more involved in the passing game because he has better hands. Bush should see roughly 8-10 touches per game, including the majority of goal-line carries. He's a high-end handcuff as opposed to a flex option. Matt Forte remains a borderline RB1.

Newly signed Michael Bush was told by coach Lovie Smith that there will be a rotation at tailback with Matt Forte.
"The rotation is going to be very good. (Smith) wants both us to make a lot of plays," Bush said. "I think there's enough carries to go around." We suspect that rotation will be similar to the one he was in with Darren McFadden. Forte can maintain low-end RB1 fantasy value as a pass-catching back with high yardage totals, but Bush is going to vulture his touchdowns.

Bears agreed to terms with RB Michael Bush on a four-year, $14 million contract.
This should expedite Marion Barber's release, a move that would free up $1.7 million in cap space. Bush's addition also gives the Bears significant leverage in contract talks with unsigned franchise player Matt Forte. Even if Forte threatens a holdout, the Bears can sit comfortably with a starting-caliber back under contract, and Kahlil Bell at No. 2 on the depth chart. Bush isn't a dynamic runner, but he's got quick feet for his size and is a bull to bring down. He's also an adept receiver and pass blocker. Bush's addition may cut into Forte's 2012 fantasy value. He's definitely a candidate for short-yardage and goal-line work.

Bears WR Johnny Knox (back surgery) acknowledges he could miss all or part of the 2012 season.
After losing 30 pounds and regaining 10 in rehab, Knox is still a long way from participating in practices. Although he's graduated to jogging, Knox has yet to run routes. "My main focus is in the weight room. I'm not in a rush," explained Knox. "This is my spine, the core of my body I'm dealing with. It's not my knee, ankle or shoulder. I'm taking my time." Knox remains without a timetable to return.
