Greg Olsen has restructured his contract.
Olsen has converted $3 million of his $3.75 million salary into an option bonus, creating $2.4 million in cap space. He's also due a $250,000 workout bonus. It helps the Panthers with one of the worst salary-cap situations in the league.

Greg Olsen played a career-high 97.8 percent of Carolina's offensive snaps in 2012.
Acquired via trade from the Bears just after the 2011 lockout, Olsen experienced his first full offseason with the Panthers and parlayed it into a true every-down role. He set statistical career highs across the board. The Panthers kept continuity on offense by staying in-house to replace Rob Chudzinski, promoting QBs coach Mike Shula. Expect a similar snap count for Olsen in 2013.

Greg Olsen caught four passes for 43 yards in the Panthers' Week 17 win over the Saints.
Olsen essentially acted as the Panthers' No. 2 receiver behind Steve Smith all year, working the seam out of his in-line tight end position. It resulted in career-highs in catches (69) and yards (843) while scoring five touchdowns. As long as tight-end friendly offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski is back in Carolina next year, Olsen will profile as a borderline TE1 once again in 2013.

Greg Olsen caught six balls for 53 yards as the Panthers downed the Raiders in Week 16.
Olsen led Carolina in receptions and finished second to Steve Smith with seven targets. A solid if mid-range TE1 throughout the season, Olsen and the Panthers will wrap up their 2012 campaign against the high-powered Saints in Week 17.

The Panthers renegotiated Jonathan Stewart's contract in late January.
Stewart's fully guaranteed $1 million 2013 base salary was lowered to $715,000, while he received a $2.5 million "signing bonus." That money was culled from future bonuses in Stewart's six-year, $37.811 million deal. His $1.5 million 2014 base salary is also now fully guaranteed. It's further proof DeAngelo Williams will likely be a post-June 1 cut.

Pilares went down during Sunday's win over the Redskins and will need surgery. His second NFL season ends with two catches for 42 yards and nine kickoff returns for 216 yards. Joe Adams figures to carry the load in the return game going forward.
