Wide receivers coach Jim Hostler said Wednesday that Jacoby Jones is a starter "right now."
As an elder statesman, Jones will enter camp as the No. 2 wideout opposite Torrey Smith. We're not convinced he'll hold the job. Tommy Streeter and Tandon Doss are both legit threats to steal snaps. David Reed, Deonte Thompson, LaQuan Williams and rookie Aaron Mellette will also be given opportunities. "All of those guys are battling for that second, third and fourth spot," Hostler said. "And it's all real close."

Ravens WR Jacoby Jones is the early favorite to start opposite Torrey Smith.
Jones has always been billed as a high-potential player with starting ability, but has never shown consistency. 2010 was his best season, amassing 526 yards and three touchdowns in seven starts. Despite 10 starts the following year, his production dropped across the board. Jones will see more targets this season, but he's best suited as a No. 3 receiver and return specialist.

Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta said the team is "very excited" about Jacoby Jones as a receiver this season.
"We're very excited about Jacoby and the progress he made throughout last season," DeCosta said. "We think we've got some very good young players that can step up and contribute. Deonte Thompson isn't a heralded name, but a guy we think is going to be a good player. We're excited about Tandon Doss. David Reed has had a lot of injuries. He's flashed in practice and made plays." Add Tommy Streeter to the list of young receivers who could see a bigger role in 2013. DeCosta also wouldn't rule out the Ravens signing a veteran receiver.

Ravens KR/WR Jacoby Jones underwent a cleanup procedure on his knee following the Super Bowl.
The surgery was so minor that he's already back competing on
Dancing with the Stars
. He did miss some rehearsal time with dance partner Karina Smifnoff, which apparently was a big deal in the celebrity gossip world. Jones, currently penciled in as the Ravens' No. 2 receiver, will be fine for the offseason program.

Ravens placed WR LaQuan Williams on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.
A deep reserve, Williams appeared in just 11 games on special teams this season, and failed to play a snap on offense. The second-year undrafted free agent will have to claw for a roster spot in 2013.
