Rams declined tender offers to RB Kenneth Darby, CB Quincy Butler, and LB Curtis Johnson, making them unrestricted free agents.
They'll be able to sign elsewhere once a CBA is established. The Rams are smartly moving on from Darby after pushing him as Steven Jackson's backup for the past 2-3 seasons. He averaged 3.15 yards per carry last season.

The Rams are expected to pursue an upgrade at No. 2 running back this offseason.
We've seemingly been saying this for years, but the time has come with Kenneth Darby scheduled for free agency. While the Rams may like to retain Darby at a cheap salary, he's severely stretched as a spot starter and has proven no better than a No. 3-caliber runner with some special teams value. Darby averaged 3.15 YPC in 2010. St. Louis is expected to pursue a "speedy change-of-pace back who can get to the perimeter and catch passes."

We don't like the news for Steven Jackson. S-Jax had seen a significant spike in receiving numbers with Darby out over the past few weeks, operating as an every-down back. Darby steals playing time in passing situations.

Darby's availability is still uncertain for a Week 16 matchup with San Francisco. A passing-down back, Darby's absence from the last three games has led directly to a large spike in Steven Jackson's receiving stats.

Rams TE Lance Kendricks had his right knee scoped last month.
Kendricks was dealing with swelling in his knee and decided to have it cleaned out. The former second-round pick showed up on the injury report a couple of times last season with a knee injury, but he didn't miss a game. With Jared Cook in town, Kendricks is expected to focus on blocking in 2013. He's sitting out OTAs, but he should be ready for training camp.
