Browns agreed to terms with TE Kellen Davis, formerly of the Bears, on a one-year contract.
The Browns have now signed Davis and Gary Barnidge to offset the losses of Ben Watson and Alex Smith. A blocker, Davis caught just 37 passes over the past two seasons. Davis should be in for a bigger role than Barnidge, but the Browns may not be done making moves at tight end. Coach Rob Chudzinski's offense makes heavy use of tight ends. As of now, Jordan Cameron is the favorite to catch passes.

Free agent TE Kellen Davis will visit the Browns Thursday.
New coach Rob Chudzinski's hunt for tight ends continues. If Davis does come aboard, it would be a best-case scenario for the fantasy prospects of intriguing ex-basketball player Jordan Cameron. Davis is a blocker at 6'7/267 that showed stones for hands during his doomed 2012 season in Chicago.

The Jets are interested in free agent TE Kellen Davis.
Davis has been drawing a ton of interest since being released by the Bears. He's an intriguing red-zone option at 6-foot-7 and 267 pounds, and he can also block. Pairing Davis with Jeff Cumberland still wouldn't be a cause for excitement.

Free agent TE Kellen Davis is drawing interest from the Steelers, Saints, Bengals, and Browns.
Davis has already visited Pittsburgh and New Orleans. Cincinnati missed out on blocking tight end Matt Spaeth, who signed with the Steelers on Friday night. Cleveland has two tight-end aficionados in coach Rob Chudzinski and OC Norv Turner. Davis' hands proved to be terrible last season, but he can still block.

Richardson is expected to be ready for training camp, but was held out of OTAs with a right shin injury and will visit Dr. James Andrews before he's cleared. Richardson insists he isn't dealing with a more serious setback. The Browns will continue to exercise caution with their workhorse back before the preseason.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Josh Gordon is already in Stage 3 of the NFL's drug program and is now one failed drug test away from a one-year suspension.
Gordon's February failed drug test for codeine was his "second strike," suggesting he either failed another drug test before that, or entered the NFL already in the league's drug program. The codeine test vaulted Gordon into Stage 3. As Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot writes, "One more failed test and Gordon's storybook NFL career could be in serious jeopardy." Players suspended for one year under the substance policy can apply for reinstatement after the year is up. For now, Gordon is only suspended for Weeks 1 and 2.

Browns WR David Nelson (ACL surgery) expects to be ready for training camp.
Nelson has been limited to side work in minicamp, but his rehab remains on schedule. With Davone Bess added since Nelson signed in early April, he'll have to be healthy in camp to be absolutely assured of a roster spot. It would be surprising if Nelson couldn't crack the 53-man roster.
