Chiefs agreed to terms with G/T Geoff Schwartz, formerly of the Vikings.
Schwartz appeared in 13 games as a reserve last season after losing the Vikings' right guard job to Brandon Fusco. Schwartz missed all of 2011 with a hip injury, but was a 16-game starter for the Panthers in 2010, primarily at right guard. He'll be a swing man off the Chiefs' bench, and could start in a pinch.

The Chiefs are expected to sign free agent G/T Geoff Schwartz.
Schwartz was a 16-game starter in 2010 for the Panthers, but missed all of 2011 due to hip surgery and then lost his 2012 starting job with the Vikings to Brandon Fusco. Still, he's just 26 years old, can play multiple positions on the line and handles himself well in the running game. It's another quality move from the new Andy Reid regime.

DraftInsider.Net's Tony Pauline "(continues) to hear" the Jets will target OG Geoff Schwartz in free agency.
Schwartz is capable of playing both guard and tackle, but couldn't beat out RG Brandon Fusco for a starting job in Minnesota last season. Schwartz missed all of 2011 with a hip injury, but did start all 16 games for the Panthers at right tackle in 2010. He'd provide cheap, versatile depth for a Jets line that got a bad rap in 2012, but has insisted he has no intention of being a backup. Perhaps he could replace free agent LG Matt Slauson.

With Brandon Fusco locked in at right guard in Minnesota, Schwartz is expected to move on. He's still just 26 and started 16 games for the Panthers in 2010, so there's some potential here. Expect Schwartz to land somewhere he can compete for a starting gig.

There's no word on whether Draughn underwent surgery. A third-year UDFA out of North Carolina, Draughn was serviceable in the Jamaal Charles backup role last season, but will be guaranteed nothing under the new Kansas City regime. He can't afford to miss much time after Knile Davis was drafted in the third round.

Chiefs placed WR Terrance Copper (knee) on season-ending injured reserve and signed WR Junior Hemingway from the practice squad.
Copper, 31 in March, caught eight passes for 79 yards on the season, but he holds more value to the Chiefs as a special teams player. He's under contract for $840,000 in 2013. Hemingway was taken in the seventh round of this past year's draft out of Michigan.
