Rams re-signed restricted free agent WR Danny Amendola to a one-year, $1.972 million contract.
It's his second-round tender. The Rams didn't want to lose Amendola, but his stats are likely in for a rude awakening in new coach Jeff Fisher's run-first offense. Amendola is a slot receiver only, and he may not play on early downs in the new system. The Rams want to get better at the wideout spots in the draft.

Restricted free agent Danny Amendola (elbow, triceps) says he's "100 percent."
Amendola took part in the beginning of Rams OTAs Monday, and was able to do "everything." He said he plans to fully participate in the Rams' upcoming minicamp. "I've got range of motion and full strength back," he said. "I'll continue to work on the little stuff, just to get finely tuned. But mostly it's all the way back." Tendered at the second-round level, Amendola technically has until April 20 to sign outside offer sheets, but appears almost certain to remain with the Rams.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, it "wouldn't be a shock" if the Rams didn't match offers for restricted free agent Danny Amendola.
Amendola proved very adept in the slot in 2009 and 2010 before missing all but one game in 2011, but has extremely limited after-the-catch ability. The Rams have 2011 draft picks Greg Salas and Austin Pettis available as potential in-house replacements, and would receive a second-round pick if they let Amendola walk.

CBS Boston's Scott Zolak reports restricted free agent Danny Amendola was spotted in Boston Wednesday.
Whether or not he was visiting the Patriots hasn't been confirmed, but the Boston media has been mentioning Amendola as a possible Pats' target for days. Amendola was limited to just one game by a triceps injury in 2011, but hauled in 85 catches for 689 yards in 2010. Although Amendola is far more limited after the catch, his game strongly resembles Wes Welker's. However, he was tendered at the second-round level by the Rams, which would be a steep price for the Pats to surrender for a player with a career 4.4 YAC.

Suspended
NFL suspended Rams rookie WR Austin Pettis four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Barring a successful appeal, the Rams' third-round pick will be suspended for the final two games of this season and the first two of 2012. St. Louis' starting slot receiver since Greg Salas went down Week 9, Pettis has averaged just 2.6 catches for 27.6 yards in six games. St. Louis doesn't have an obvious candidate to man the slot in Weeks 16 and 17, but it's possible KR Nick Miller could get a look. With both Danny Amendola and Salas expected to be 100 percent healthy for 2012 training camp, there's little reason to hold onto Pettis in dynasty leagues.

Hoomanawanui suffered the injury in mid-November. Assuming he takes the normal recovery path, he should be getting close to 100 percent just as training camp opens.
