"I wish it could've been a couple years back, but I had to go through a couple of things to figure it out," Bryant said of his past troubles. "I think I got it and I'm just more focused on my job and doing what I love to do and that's playing football." The light bulb went off for Bryant on the field last season, and is now doing so off of it. A rare talent, we don't doubt that Bryant can top his 92/1,382/12 2012.

Owner/GM Jerry Jones says Dez Bryant has "certainly matured."
It's mid-May and we have zero reports of off-field incidents surrounding Bryant. No news is great news for the freakishly talented 24-year-old. "Football means everything to him and he certainly had a lot of growing up to do, probably more so than your average player in the NFL," Jones said. "He's quick to understand that and he's doing that and he's doing it at a real fast pace."

Dez Bryant admits his surgically-repaired finger will "never be normal," but insists it won't be an issue and says he's catching balls even better now.
Bryant resumed catching passes last month. He apparently did permanent damage as he played through the injury last season, but it never inhibited him on the field. Bryant plays with the kind of physicality that can cut short careers, but he's locked in as a WR1 for the next several seasons, barring injury.

Dez Bryant (finger surgery) has resumed catching passes.
Bryant broke his left index finger on Dec. 9. It clearly bothered him on the field, but he never sat out and willed his way to 17 catches for 354 yards and three touchdowns in the three games following the injury. "Finger is great," Bryant said last week. "I'm catching passes the same, I'm not missing a beat."

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Tony Romo (back surgery) "probably" won't be ready for minicamp.
Romo said earlier Tuesday he was optimistic he'd be ready for June's minicamp, but Rapoport reports the Cowboys are "fine bringing Romo back slowly." They have no reason to rush their franchise signal caller, who should be ready well before training camp.

Cowboys signed fifth-round RB Joseph Randle to a four-year contract.
The Cowboys have very high hopes for Randle, despite the fact that he'll miss all pre-training camp activities due to offseason thumb surgery. An adept pass catcher, Randle does little else well. On tape, it was evident his production was spiked by Oklahoma State's wide-open offense in the defense-deficient Big 12.

Miles Austin said he is focusing on strengthening his hamstrings this offseason.
Austin played in all 16 games last season, but was consistently bothered by hip and hamstring issues. In 2011, he missed six games with a severe pull. "I'm definitely strengthening my hamstrings a lot more than I have been," said Austin. "Doing a different routine, a couple of extra exercises each day on our leg days."

Coale tore his ACL in November, and it's unlikely that he's going through practice full-speed. It's still good news for the 2012 fifth-round pick because just 11 days ago he had yet to be medically cleared. After spending last season on the practice squad, Coale faces an uphill battle for a roster spot.

Cowboys WR Tim Benford underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
Benford will miss the rest of rookie minicamp and OTAs before returning for training camp. The former Tennessee Tech receiver spent the entire 2012 season on the practice squad, and he'll face an uphill battle for a roster spot.
