C.J. Spiller confirmed on NFL Network that he expects more carries this season.
The Bills are planning to get Spiller more involved on offense, both in the passing game and in short-yardage situations. "We’re going to try to use me as much as possible and not let teams just get one bead on me saying I can just run the ball," Spiller said. "I’ll be utilized in space, in the slot or whatever the case may be to try to help us find those mismatches and take advantage of them."

Bills coach Doug Marrone plans to use C.J. Spiller in all situations this season.
That includes goal-line and short-yardage situations. "My philosophy's always been if someone starts off and they're running well, keep feeding them the ball," Marrone said. Marrone's M.O. is in stark contrast to former coach Chan Gailey's, who routinely took his best player off the field in critical situations because he didn't view Spiller as a power back. The Bills are going to feed Spiller early and often this season, putting him in position to be a top-five fantasy back.

Rookie coach Doug Marrone explained that the goal of Buffalo's new up-tempo offense is to create more offensive possessions and score more points.
The Bills won't just play fast to play fast, or to keep defenses on their heels. They're playing fast to rack up more yards and scores. "With tempo what you’re trying to get done is statistically the amount of possessions you have per game equal the amount of points you score, so the tempo you run is not a gadget," Marrone said. "The aim is to get more possessions, knowing more possessions will get you more scores. We will use that as much as possible."

WGR 550 Buffalo expects C.J. Spiller to be a workhorse this season.
Under the Chan Gailey regime, Spiller averaged just 12.3 touches per game over the last two years. New coach Doug Marrone figures to change that. "This year, when we hear 'CJ needed a breather' come out of a coach's mouth, he'll most likely be right," writes Sal Capaccio. Fred Jackson is 32 years old and coming off a season-ending knee injury. He's a mere complementary piece to the wildly explosive Spiller, who is locked in as a first-round fantasy pick.

Chandler is almost certainly limited to individual drills, but it's another positive step in his impressive recovery. Just like Adrian Peterson in 2011, Chandler tore up his knee in Week 16. It's looking more realistic that the red-zone threat will be ready for Week 1.

Bills re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Mike Caussin to a one-year, $630,000 contract.
Caussin missed the entire 2012 season as he recovered from a torn ACL. Assuming he makes the roster, Cuassin will provide special teams help and insurance at tight end with Scott Chandler now dealing with an ACL tear of his own.
