Coach Mike Tomlin expressed confidence in Jason Worilds as his starting right outside linebacker.
With James Harrison gone and no signs of a free agent signing, the job is Worilds' for now. The 2010 second-round pick has posted just 10 sacks in 42 career games, but did set a career-high of five last year when Harrison missed three games. There's some IDP sleeper appeal here if Worilds holds on to the job.

A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette item hints that the Steelers were intent on drafting ILB Sean Lee with the 52nd pick in the 2010 draft, but coach Mike Tomlin stepped in to pound the table for Jason Worilds.
Worilds has been a disappointment, while 55th pick Lee is an All-Pro caliber player in Dallas. As NFL.com's Chris Wesseling noted, the item "Also hints at a divide not just on the field but between Tomlin and some members of the personnel department." The Steelers did not want to lose James Harrison because they don't have faith in Worilds. They were forced to cut Harrison for cap reasons.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review says the Steelers aren't "100 percent sold on" Jason Worilds as James Harrison's heir at outside linebacker.
Pittsburgh is concerned with Worilds' lack of experience and his inability to stay healthy, so the plan is to tap into the free-agent market to at least bring in some competition. The Steelers have "their eyes on at least three what can be considered young and underutilized free agent outside linebackers." Pittsburgh doesn't want to pay anyone more than $3-4 million annually. Victor Butler is an intriguing young name.

Steelers OLB Jason Worilds has been activated from the PUP list after missing most of camp with a wrist injury.
Worilds showed promise in 2011 spot duty, recording 38 tackles and three sacks across 12 games with seven starts. Although Chris Carter spent much of summer with the first-team defense, the Steelers figure to turn back to Worilds as their No. 3 outside linebacker behind James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley.

Heath Miller (torn ACL) remains without a timetable for a return, but believes "there’s a chance" he'll be ready for Week 1.
"I’m running now. I’m doing everything," Miller said. "I’m not at full speed, but I’ve been able to do everything that they’ve asked me to do. So, I’m pleased and encouraged. It’s been a long process. ... But I’m going to keep taking it one day at a time and get better every day." The Steelers didn't draft a tight end, so they're clearly counting on Miller contributing in 2013. He's too risky to count on as a low-end TE1 for fantasy purposes, however.
