Bills DL Alex Carrington averaged a pressure every 10 pass rushes last season.
Carrington was an underrated force as a rotational lineman behind Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus in the Bills' 4-3 defense, but his role in new DC Mike Pettine's system remains unclear with the addition of Alan Branch. He previously played both defensive end and outside linebacker in 3-4 packages.

Bills DL Alex Carrington has been a quick study in his transition to defensive tackle.
On the roster bubble entering August, Carrington impressed head coach Chan Gailey with his consistency during camp. Carrington had played both DE and OLB in the Bills 3-4 scheme, and now sits fourth on the DT depth chart behind starters Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus and nine-year veteran Spencer Johnson.

Bills third-year DT Alex Carrington is entering camp on the roster bubble.
The 72nd pick in the 2010 draft, Carrington worked with Buffalo's third-team defense at OTAs and simply hasn't earned enough playing time for job security. If he did miss the cut, Carrington would be an attractive waiver claim for 3-4 teams.

Former Bills third-round pick Alex Carrington is working as a third-team defensive tackle at OTAs.
The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Carrington was drafted with the 72nd overall pick in 2010, when the Bills were still trying to implement a 3-4 defense. He was a "five technique," defensive end prospect. Carrington struggled in roughly 490 defensive snaps last season, and his role may further decline this year.

Stevie Johnson has "no idea" when he'll be cleared from the back injury that has sidelined him since mid-April.
Johnson missed the initial phase of Buffalo's offseason conditioning program and is now sitting out full-squad OTAs. The Bills' website calls the injury a "strain." Said Johnson, "It’s just frustrating seeing the guys running around, but it’s getting better. ... I’m just doing everything that they’re telling me to. I’m doing the weight room stuff. Of course I’m inside the playbook and when they give me the green light I’ll be ready to go."

Bills TE Scott Chandler is sitting out full-squad OTAs while continuing to rehab his torn left ACL.
Chandler suffered the injury on December 23 and his training camp status is in question. The 28-year-old's role in new coach Doug Marrone's offense is also uncertain, although Buffalo did little to upgrade tight end other than draft Chris Gragg in the seventh round. Chandler's 2013 fantasy outlook is bleak.

Bills re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Mike Caussin to a one-year, $630,000 contract.
Caussin missed the entire 2012 season as he recovered from a torn ACL. Assuming he makes the roster, Cuassin will provide special teams help and insurance at tight end with Scott Chandler now dealing with an ACL tear of his own.
