The Vikings have moved Joe Webb to wide receiver.
"We had been talking about it for a while, and we made the decision that this was the way to go after we had our draft," coach Leslie Frazier said. Webb hasn't lined up at receiver since rookie minicamp in 2010, but he's been catching passes on the side for a few weeks now. Webb posted forty times of 4.44 and 4.45, an 11-foot-5 broad jump, and 42.5" vertical at UAB's Pro Day three years ago. He also has 10 3/4-inch hands to go with his 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame. Webb has a chance to be the No. 4 or 5 receiver if the transition goes smoothly.

Joe Webb has been catching passes in preparation for a switch to receiver.
The Vikings haven't notified Webb of a position switch, but it's looking likely that he'll be asked to make the transition back to receiver in 2013. "I'm doing a lot more work at it so I can work on my craft at receiver since I haven't been there since, what, 2010 when I first got drafted?," asked Webb rhetorically. "I'm comfortable. Whatever they ask me to do, I'm going to do it." Webb has one year left on his contract, and his best chance to make the team will be at receiver.

Coach Leslie Frazier softened his stance and said the Vikings will "continue to discuss" a position change for QB Joe Webb.
"[Webb] is such a talented athlete that we want to make sure that we’re doing the right thing by him and our team," Frazier said. "That’s something we’ll continue to discuss as we go forward." Frazier previously said the Vikings didn't plan to move Webb from quarterback, but they appear more open to doing so. Minnesota intended to use Webb as a receiver when it selected him in the 2010 draft.

Frazier claims he intends to take four quarterbacks to training camp. However, Webb does not appear to be a fit -- even as the No. 3 behind Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel. Webb proved to be incapable of running a standard offense when forced into action during January's Wild Card playoff loss to the Packers.

GM Rick Spielman gives Christian Ponder "just as much credit for getting us in the playoffs" as Adrian Peterson.
Spielman was referring specifically to Ponder's play when the Vikings won their final four games of the regular season. During that time, he completed 60.6 percent of his passes and threw just one interception, but averaged a mere 157.5 yards per game and totaled four passing scores. These comments are another case of Spielman trying to pump up Ponder's confidence. He's ready to ride or die with his 2011 No. 12 overall pick.

Adrian Peterson said his goal for this season is to run for 2,500 yards.
Peterson rumbled for 2,097 last season even though he was coming off a knee reconstruction and playing through a sports hernia. In order to reach 2,500 yards, he'd need to average 156.25 yards per day over 16 games. It's not going to happen, but Peterson is set up for another run at Eric Dickerson's single-season record of 2,105 yards. Lead-blocker Jerome Felton and mauling tackle Phil Loadholt are both back and Peterson will be 21 months removed from his ACL tear by the time Week 1 rolls around.

Vikings WR Greg Childs (torn patellar tendons) has resumed sprinting and cutting.
"All the necessary things I need to be doing, I'm doing now," Childs said. "I still do my cuts and my runs full speed. There is no change in the way I run or the way I play. My routes are still the same." Despite the progress, Childs admits he's not close to 100 percent. The Vikings are operating under the assumption Childs "may never play a meaningful down in the NFL." So should fantasy owners.
