The National Football Post's Dan Pompei reports part of the reason the Jaguars moved Tyson Alualu to defensive end was because of his knee troubles.
Alualu, the No. 10 overall pick in 2010, played with a knee injury for much of his first two seasons in the league, before undergoing "minor" microfracture surgery last offseason. The hope is that moving him off the nose to the Red Bryant run-stopping role takes some pressure off the balky knee.

Jaguars DT Tyson Alualu will play defensive end in new coach Gus Bradley's hybrid 4-3 defense.
A three-technique interior pass rusher his first three seasons, Alualu managed just 9.5 sacks across 48 games. The left defensive end spot in Bradley's defense is also known as "five technique" and was manned by Red Bryant in Seattle. Generously listed at 6-foot-3, 304, Alualu is unlikely to give the Jaguars the same kind of run-stopping ability as Bryant, but that'll be his new role.

Jaguars DT Tyson Alualu suffered an abdominal injury in this week's minicamp.
Alualu participated on both Tuesday and Wednesday, but he was forced to sit out on Thursday. It's likely just a precautionary measure, and he should be fine for OTAs. Alualu recorded 45 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season.

Jaguars DT Tyson Alualu said last week's game versus the Colts was the best he's felt since he entered the league as the No. 10 overall pick in the 2010 draft.
GM Gene Smith said this week that Alualu showed significant quickness in producing his best game of the season. Since his rookie season, Alualu has played through a knee issue that eventually required microfracture surgery. By the time he emerges as a consistent asset, Alualu's GM may be out of a job.

Undrafted Jaguars QB Jordan Rodgers will be sidelined until training camp after undergoing sports-hernia surgery.
Aaron's younger brother, Rodgers is competing with fellow undrafted QB Matt Scott for No. 3 duties. This gives the more-talented Scott another leg up in a competition the Jaguars would likely prefer him to win.

Maurice Jones-Drew (Lisfranc surgery) said his foot is now healed and he's concentrating on strengthening his ankle.
The Lisfranc surgery is so brutal because players can't even run for months after it. Jones-Drew is finally able to exercise fully now. "The weight's going to come off as I work out," he said. "All I could do (after surgery) was eat. With this injury, you don't want to break the screws and have to get the surgery over again. I couldn't move." MJD remains questionable for the start of training camp.

Coach Gus Bradley said he's giving suspended WR Justin Blackmon a clean slate.
Blackmon has two DUI arrests and a four-game substance-abuse violation on his resume since 2010. But none of that occurred while Bradley was in contact with the 2012 No. 5 overall pick. The pair is having regular conversations as Blackmon tries to stabilize his life and career. "He's never done anything wrong with me. It'd be different if I was talking to him and I didn't feel like we were connecting at all. I do feel a connection," Bradley said.

Jaguars TE Brett Brackett underwent groin surgery Tuesday.
Brackett has never appeared in an NFL game since going undrafted out of Penn State in 2011. He spent last year on injured reserve with a knee injury. The pass-catching tight end is expected back to compete for a roster spot at training camp.
