Texans ILB Darryl Sharpton (hip) participated in OTAs on Monday in a limited fashion.
"Sharpton’s good," coach Gary Kubiak said. "We’re kind of going to be a little protective with him, keep him out of some special teams drills and stuff, but he’s back to work." Sharpton will contend with Tim Dobbins and possibly Brooks Reed for the starting inside 'backer job next to Brian Cushing.

Texans DC Wade Phillips says ILB Darryl Sharpton is still not recovered from his late-season hip injury.
"Darryl's not healthy enough right now to do our offseason stuff," Phillips said. "He's still not been cleared by the doctors." This contradicts earlier comments from Sharpton himself, who claimed in February he was 100 percent healed. We'll find out for sure when the Texans begin OTAs on Monday.

Sharpton landed on injured reserve after Week 17 last season, but he declared himself "100 percent healed up" in February. The Texans are still taking it easy on him, but he should be ready to go when OTAs start on May 20. Sharpton and Tim Dobbins will compete for the starting job next to Brian Cushing.

Sharpton spent the first nine games of 2012 on PUP before landing on injured reserve for the playoffs. Limited to 15 games by injury the past two seasons, Sharpton will have to earn a starting job in camp. Inside 'backer is a major need for the Texans.

Speaking at Texans OTAs Monday, coach Gary Kubiak described WR DeVier Posey's Achilles' rehab as "ahead of schedule."
Kubiak did admit Posey is a candidate to open the season on PUP, although that decision will be made at a much later date. A 2012 third-rounder out of Ohio State, Posey will not be counted on for 2013 impact after a slow rookie year.
