Seahawks signed SS Kam Chancellor to a four-year, $28 million extension through 2017, including $17 million guaranteed.
Chancellor just turned 25 and will be 30 when the deal expires, so he'll have a real opportunity to see it through. An imposing 6-foot-3, 232-pound bonecrusher in Seattle's backend, Chancellor amassed 101 tackles and a forced fumble last season while breaking up four passes as a "box" safety. Earl Thomas plays back deep. Chancellor graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 21 safety in 2012, ahead of Thomas (No. 35), receiving high marks in both coverage and run support. Chancellor was charted with just nine missed tackles, which is a strong statistic because he gets so many tackle chances playing close to the line of scrimmage.

Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor's 2013 base salary increased from $575,000 to $1.323 million after he hit escalators in his rookie deal.
Chancellor has appeared in 47 of a possible 48 games to start his career, and he's known as a hard-hitting safety that isn't afraid to lay a receiver out. 2011 was his best season, as he posted 97 tackles, 13 passes defensed, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles. Chancellor recently underwent surgery on his lower right leg, but he should be ready for training camp. Seattle could look to try and lock him up this offseason.

Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor underwent surgery Thursday on his lower right leg.
The specifics aren't in yet. Chancellor tweeted a picture of his foot in a cast, adding, "Surgery is finally over and I feel like crap." It's not clear if the injury occurred in the season-ending loss to Atlanta, or if Chancellor had been playing through pain. He led the Seahawks defense in snaps played this season.

Seahawks GM John Schneider laughed off reports that SS Kam Chancellor could be moved to linebacker this year.
"We usually try not to move Pro Bowl players to different positions," said Schneider. Although he's a box safety, moving to linebacker in nickel packages, Chancellor held his own in coverage last year. He graded out as Pro Football Focus' fifth-rated safety in his first season as a starter.

Percy Harvin said Tuesday that he hasn't had a migraine headache in two years.
Harvin is often criticized for an inability to stay healthy, but before his 2012 ankle injury he had missed just three games in three NFL seasons. Since getting diagnosed with sleep apnea in 2010, he's been able to avoid the severe headaches that had plagued him all the way back to his University of Florida days. "Been fully healthy from that aspect so everything's been good," Harvin said. "I'm going to knock on wood that nothing resurfaces but it's been all great."

The Seattle Times doesn't envision the Seahawks cutting TE Zach Miller.
We don't, either. Miller has a mammoth cap number for 2013 as he's due a $6.8 million salary and a $3 million roster bonus, but he was finally starting to come on in the latter stages of the 2012 season, capping it off with an eight-catch, 142-yard, one-score Divisional Round playoff game outburst against the Falcons. He should be in line for a bigger role on offense this coming season.
