According to the New York Daily News, the Jets anticipate using Chris Johnson and Chris Ivory in a "1-2 punch."
Beat writer Manish Mehta believes Johnson "won't come close" to his career average of 290 carries per year, and could lose "35-40" percent off his 2013 total of 279. That would put Johnson at 167-181 rushing attempts. Should Johnson improve on his 2013 YPC average of 3.86 to, say, 4.20, that would give him 702-763 rushing yards. Ivory is the superior between-the-tackles runner, but Johnson's contract -- the biggest on the 2014 running back market and worth twice as much on a per-year basis as Ivory's three-year, $6 million deal -- suggests CJ?K will indeed be Gang Green's lead back. Ivory projects as a two-down change-of-pace bruiser off the bench. Apr 17 - 2:15 AM
