ESPN Boston believes Patriots G/T Marcus Cannon could see more time at guard in 2013.
Just 12 of Cannon's 178 2012 snaps came at guard, but the Pats have since signed swing-tackle Will Svitek and re-upped RT Sebastian Vollmer. Coach Bill Belichick recently lauded Cannon's development. It's possible he'll be given a chance to push Dan Connolly at right guard.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick believes reserve OT Marcus Cannon "improved tremendously as a player" last season.
"The opportunities he had to play early in the year, and even later in the year, he showed that improvement in games as well as the practice field," Belichick said. Asked if Cannon would be an option at right tackle if Sebastian Vollmer bolted in free agency, Belichick replied "that’s up to him." Cannon played 166 snaps at tackle last season, and just 12 at guard.

The Boston Herald reports G/T Marcus Cannon will be considered a tackle going forward.
Cannon is capable of playing inside and out, but the Patriots apparently like his 6-foot-5, 358-pound size better at tackle. With LT Matt Light reportedly considering retirement and RT Sebastian Vollmer growing increasingly injury prone, Cannon could be in line for a much bigger role next season after cancer treatments limited him to seven games as a rookie.

Patriots will add Marcus Cannon (lymphoma) off the non-football injury list and onto the active roster Tuesday.
It's great news for Cannon, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma prior to the NFL draft. He was cleared to practice in late October and now the Patriots are comfortable enough with his health to activate him. Cannon will add quality depth at both the tackle and guard spots.

ESPN Boston agrees with the Boston Herald that Patriots WR Julian Edelman is not a lock for a roster spot.
The Patriots waited nearly a month before re-signing Edelman to a contract that includes no guaranteed money, while a setback with his troublesome foot has him questionable for the beginning of camp. Edelman's experience in the Patriots' system and special-teams prowess should give him a leg up on the likes of Donald Jones, Lavelle Hawkins and Michael Jenkins, but only if he's healthy.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft confirmed Rob Gronkowski's fourth arm surgery went "as good as he could have hoped."
Per Kraft, Gronk will be back "as soon as possible." Right now, "as soon as possible" appears to be mid-August. That's because Gronk is tentatively slated for "minor" back surgery sometime in the next 3-4 weeks. Like Robert Griffin III, Gronk's Week 1 status will be hard to accurately gauge before training camp.

ESPN Boston reports that "word is" Aaron Hernandez (shoulder) can expect a four-month recovery period.
Hernandez underwent a "minor scope" almost three weeks ago, and he is not expected to participate in OTAs or minicamp. It's possible he could even open training camp on the PUP list. There remains plenty of time for Hernandez to be ready for Week 1. The Patriots will likely bring him along slowly.
