Julius Thomas secured 6-of-7 targets for 53 yards in the Broncos' Divisional Round loss to Indianapolis.
The first big play of the game was a lobbed 32-yard bomb from Peyton Manning to Orange Julius. Otherwise, Thomas' receptions mostly occurred close to the line of scrimmage, and he has never been a big threat after the catch. Turning 27 this offseason and entering free agency, Thomas is a candidate to be overpaid on the open market. He has great ball skills, but is only an above-average athlete and offers nothing in the run game. In Sunday's loss to the Colts, the Broncos used Virgil Green as their early-down tight end and Thomas mostly in obvious passing situations. He averaged 4.2 yards per catch aside from the 32-yarder.
