Saints re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Michael Higgins and G/C Eric Olsen to one-year, $555,000 contracts.
Higgins appeared in two games in 2012 after being promoted from the practice squad in Week 13, catching one pass. Olsen played in all 16 games and started four at right guard. They're pure depth players.

The Saints promoted TE Michael Higgins from the practice squad.
An undrafted rookie free agent out of Nebraska-Omaha, Higgins will take the roster spot of David Thomas, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. He should be used on special teams and as an extra blocker.

Saints coach Sean Payton promises the looming contract showdown with Jimmy Graham will have no effect on where Graham lines up in 2013.
Graham, entering a contract year, is going to want to be paid as a receiver whether it's on a long-term deal or franchise tag. He could command upwards of $12 million annually. "We're going to put people in different spots all the time to get them open," said Payton. "Whatever we have to do is not going to be dictated by the interpretation of some rule. We're just going to try to win."
