According to NFL.com's Albert Breer, Matt Barkley has displayed "fantastic accuracy" in Eagles rookie minicamp.
However, Breer admits there's a "sizable" gap in arm strength between Barkley and Michael Vick. Barkley's accuracy has never been a question mark, so it would be news if he
wasn't
fantastically accurate in pad-less practices. Barkley's weak arm is the reason he's facing middling odds of carving out a long and productive NFL career.

The Philadelphia Inquirer thinks there's a chance fourth-round QB Matt Barkley could "get the nod" as the Eagles' starter.
Anything is possible, but it would be a huge surprise if Barkley took the first snap in Week 1. Beat writer Jeff McLane points to Barkley's accuracy, ball placement, and ability to throw on the run as reasons why coach Chip Kelly could prefer the rookie over Michael Vick and Nick Foles. Plus, Barkley is the only signal caller hand-picked by Kelly. It's going to be an interesting summer in Philly.

New Eagles QB Matt Barkley (shoulder) says he's "good to go" for OTAs.
A league source tells the Philadelphia Inquirer Barkley "(wasn't) quite 100 percent" for his pre-draft workouts, but he's since fully healed. "I just can't wait to get into minicamps and prove myself and show that I do have a strong arm, and I am capable of playing in this league, and playing strong," Barkley said. Barkley isn't a realistic candidate for the Eagles' starting job.

Eagles traded up with the Jaguars to select USC QB Matt Barkley with the No. 98 overall pick, sending Jacksonville the Nos. 101 and 201 picks.
Oddest fit of the draft so far. Barkley (6-foot-2 1/2, 227) wrapped his college career with a 64.1 completion rate and 116:48 TD-to-INT ratio as a four-year starter in USC's pro-style offense. Though decorated and productive, Barkley's inability to drive throws outside the numbers and lack of mobility put a lid on his long-range upside. Barkley draws high marks for intelligence and leadership, but has a skill set similar to Andy Dalton or Chad Pennington. Based on tape study, NFL Films' Greg Cosell has called Barkley a fourth-round talent -- he proved dead-on -- and insists Mark Sanchez was a better prospect coming out of USC. New Eagles coach Chip Kelly has been open about changing his offense to suit his personnel, but we wouldn't be surprised if Barkley never played a down in Philadelphia and is simply being drafted as future trade bait.

Eagles TE/H-back James Casey underwent arthroscopic surgery to clean out loose cartilage in his right knee.
Casey, who signed a three-year, $12M contract in March, will miss the rest of spring workouts. He is expected to be ready for training camp. It's a setback for a player trying to learn Chip Kelly's offense and competing for snaps with both Brent Celek and rookie Zach Ertz. Casey was barely on the TE2 radar anyway.
