According to Football Outsiders, Bernard Pierce's 2012 broken tackle rate was 16.5 percent.
It was the fifth-best rate in the league among running backs, and nearly double the 8.5 percent clip posted by Ray Rice. It's further evidence that Pierce is a difference-making back that has earned a larger role in the Ravens' offense. We're expecting a bump on the 7.1 touches per game Pierce received as a third-round rookie last year.

Bernard Pierce has recovered from the knee injury that bothered him during the postseason.
Pierce had a bone bruise, but it didn't stop him from racking up 202 yards on 39 carries (5.2 YPC) during the Ravens' run to the Super Bowl. The 6-foot-0 bruiser also says he's bulked up from 218 pounds to 228. "The stats will speak for themselves at the end of the day," Pierce forecasted for 2013. The sophomore will be one of the preeminent handcuffs in fantasy football.

Bernard Pierce rushed 12 times for 33 yards in the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII win over the 49ers.
Pierce's most impressive run came on the last play of the third quarter. On a critical third-and-one as San Francisco had rallied back to make Super Bowl XLVII a five-point game, Pierce sprinted off left end and beat 49ers OLB Aldon Smith around the corner for an eight-yard pickup. Unfortunately, Pierce netted just 25 yards on his other 11 carries. Still, after a highly impressive rookie year, Pierce will be a threat to Ray Rice's workload in 2013, likely on an 8-12 touch-per-game workload. He'll be one of the premier handcuffs in fantasy drafts next summer.

Although the Ravens did not practice on Wednesday, Bernard Pierce (knee) and Anquan Boldin (shoulder) were estimated as "DNP" for the day.
The Ravens sent out an injury report based on the estimation if they had actually been on the field. Both Pierce and Boldin have been listed with the same "injuries" for the past couple of weeks, but they are in zero danger of missing the Super Bowl two Sundays from now. Baltimore will resume practicing on Thursday.

Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta said the team is "very excited" about Jacoby Jones as a receiver this season.
"We're very excited about Jacoby and the progress he made throughout last season," DeCosta said. "We think we've got some very good young players that can step up and contribute. Deonte Thompson isn't a heralded name, but a guy we think is going to be a good player. We're excited about Tandon Doss. David Reed has had a lot of injuries. He's flashed in practice and made plays." Add Tommy Streeter to the list of young receivers who could see a bigger role in 2013. DeCosta also wouldn't rule out the Ravens signing a veteran receiver.

Ravens placed WR LaQuan Williams on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.
A deep reserve, Williams appeared in just 11 games on special teams this season, and failed to play a snap on offense. The second-year undrafted free agent will have to claw for a roster spot in 2013.
