Bills CB Stephon Gilmore allowed just a 53.5 completion percentage over the final 11 games of his rookie 2012 season.
Gilmore was welcomed to the NFL rudely by the likes of Mark Sanchez, Brandon Weeden, and Alex Smith, but he improved his play dramatically from Week 6 on. Gilmore surrendered three touchdowns in the early going, but he kept opposing receivers off the score sheet for 11 straight contests to close out the year. His only problem was that he was called for too many penalties (13), though some were very ticky-tack. The Bills routinely called on Gilmore to shadow opposing No. 1 receivers. He has one side of the field locked down, but the Bills need someone to step up on the opposite side.

Bills CB Stephon Gilmore is working to reclaim his physical edge after Sunday's Week 1 drubbing by the Jets.
Coach Chan Gailey characterized Gilmore's play as "a little soft" and "tentative" in the opener. "He has shown to be a much more physical and much more dominant force in one-on-one coverage than he did (Sunday). I think he’ll learn from this and become a better football player. He’s got all the tools." Expect receivers in Gilmore's coverage to see a lot of targets this season, as opposing QBs look pick on the rookie cornerback.

First-round pick Stephon Gilmore has reportedly looked "like a seasoned vet already locking down a starting job" as the Bills' starting right corner.
Per SI.com camp observer Don Banks, Gilmore's impressive practices have led to a number of Bills veterans "bring(ing) up his name, unprompted, as an obvious standout." Banks went so far as to suggest Buffalo has its "Darrelle Revis." Observed Stevie Johnson, "Everything I see in Revis, I see in Gilmore. ... He's definitely going to be a shutdown corner. You definitely can tell."

Coach Chan Gailey reiterated that first-round CB Stephon Gilmore did an "excellent job" during offseason workouts.
Gilmore will start as another playmaker in a potentially explosive Bills defense. "Everything that we have asked him to do, to pick up, to adjust to, he has handled it so well," Gailey said. "He is very mature beyond his years." Gilmore had four interceptions and 11 pass breakups as a junior at South Carolina last season.

BuffaloBills.com reports that TE Scott Chandler (ACL surgery) is likely to be a participant in practice right from the start of training camp.
Chandler tore his ACL in Week 16 last season, and it's five months to the day since he underwent surgery. On Thursday, following the team's OTA practice, Chandler was on the field running routes and catching passes. The soon-to-be 29-year-old says he "feels good," and thinks it's "realistic" to be ready for camp. We're skeptical, but it certainly sounds like Chandler might be ready for Week 1.

Bills re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Mike Caussin to a one-year, $630,000 contract.
Caussin missed the entire 2012 season as he recovered from a torn ACL. Assuming he makes the roster, Cuassin will provide special teams help and insurance at tight end with Scott Chandler now dealing with an ACL tear of his own.
