Former Steelers QB Charlie Batch thinks the team will try to groom Landry Jones to eventually replace Ben Roethlisberger.
"Maybe two years from now, he could be our guy for the next 10 years," Batch said. "We don't know. But with the contracts for quarterbacks these days, he'd certainly be a heck of a lot cheaper than Ben at age 34 or 35 or 36." It's a bit of a reach to project Jones as an eventual NFL starter. He has the arm for it, but struggles when under pressure. The fourth-round project should be happy if he sticks in the league for 10 years as a backup.

Steelers selected Oklahoma QB Landry Jones with the No. 115 overall pick.
Jones (6-foot-4 1/8, 225) was a four-year starter, succeeding Sam Bradford and completing 65.0 percent of his career passes with a 123:52 TD-to-INT ratio in the Sooners' wide-open spread. Jones has starting-caliber arm talent -- he's drawn Ken Stabler comparisons from ESPN's Ron Jaworski -- but crumbles in the pocket with bodies around him and tends to sense pressure when it isn't there. He's got the Gabbert syndrome. Jones still throws the ball well enough with his feet set that he's worth a developmental flier. Ben Roethlisberger has missed eight games over the last three seasons and Jones fits Todd Haley's quick-hitting passing scheme.

ESPN's Jon Gruden believes QB Landry Jones got "bored" and "complacent" his final two years at Oklahoma.
"Jones was around so long and had seen so much as a college player that I think he got complacent," Gruden writes. "I see a player who got bored. ... The Sooners often went with four-wideout formations, and I thought it stymied their QB. They lost balance and their play-action passing game. That put a lot on Jones, and it probably created a situation where he had to throw the ball too often." Jones threw for 4,718 yards and 38 touchdowns as a sophomore, but fell short of both totals his junior and senior seasons. Immobile and inconsistent, Jones will be lucky to come off the board on day two.

The Bills will conduct a private workout with Oklahoma QB Landry Jones on Monday.
It's not a terribly noteworthy development, but this is the first we've heard of Jones since the Combine. At one time viewed as a likely first-round pick, Jones could struggle to come off the board on day two.

Ben Roethlisberger says Heath Miller (knee surgery) is walking without a limp.
Miller tore his ACL, MCL and PCL 3 1/2 months ago. It's a good sign that he's off crutches, but he's limited to weightlifting work for now and remains a strong bet to start the year on the PUP list. The Steelers have been linked to Notre Dame TE Tyler Eifert with the No. 17 overall pick in next week's draft.
