Rueben Randle is ahead of Louis Murphy on the depth chart, as expected.
Randle isn't facing any real competition for the No. 3 gig. Domenik Hixon is gone, Jerrel Jernigan is working in the slot and Murphy is a situational deep threat. Even if/when Ramses Barden re-signs, he won't truly challenge. With Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks both skipping OTAs, Randle is running as the No. 1 wideout. Entering his second NFL season, there's a ton to like about the 6'3/210 LSU product. Despite a 19/298/3 line last season, Randle's tape was impressive.

Rueben Randle is reportedly the "heavy favorite" to be the Giants' No. 3 wideout next season.
When given the opportunity to make plays as a rookie, Randle capitalized. He saw just 32 targets all season, but produced 19 catches for 298 yards and three touchdowns -- with two of those scores coming in a Week 17 torching of Nnamdi Asomugha. The Giants are not expected to re-sign free agent Domenik Hixon, leaving Randle as the clear No. 3 behind Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. Giants.com would be "very surprised" if Randle doesn't "at least" double his receptions as a sophomore. Dynasty leaguers should also note that both Nicks and Cruz can be unrestricted free agents after the 2013 season.

Rueben Randle caught four passes for 58 yards with two touchdowns in the Giants' Week 17 romp over the Eagles.
Hakeem Nicks (knee) barely played. That left Randle in one-on-one coverage with Nnamdi Asomugha, a matchup the second-round rookie easily exploited. Although Randle finishes with just 19 catches, 298 yards and three touchdowns, his arrow is pointing straight up going forward. Domenik Hixon could very well walk as an unrestricted free agent, locking him into the No. 3 gig. Additionally, oft-injured Hakeem Nicks will be a free agent after the 2013 season. Randle has the skill set of a long-term No. 2 wideout opposite Victor Cruz.

Rueben Randle wasn't targeted in New York's Week 14 win over the Saints.
Randle saw few, if any, snaps on offense with Domenik Hixon (ankle) returning from a two-week absence. Neither player will be on the radar in redraft leagues for the final two weeks of the fantasy playoffs.

Giants FB Henry Hynoski has been diagnosed with an injured left MCL and chip fracture to his lateral plateau.
It's actually a positive revelation for Hynoski. When he went down during Wednesday's OTA session, it looked like Hynoski could have blown out his ACL or patella. Instead, he will undergo surgery Friday and has a realistic shot at being back for Week 1. Hynoski graded out as Pro Football Focus' fifth-best fullback in terms of lead blocking last season.

Updating a previous item, Yahoo's Jason Cole now says Hakeem Nicks did
not
skip Wednesday's OTAs as a contractual protest.
This situation could get cleared up quickly if Nicks' camp would just say why he hasn't shown up. Instead, his agent has strongly denied the absence is contract related, but won't offer any more details. Nicks was in New York as of Tuesday night, so perhaps he'll show up this week to explain. He doesn't have much leverage after posting an injury-plagued 53/692/2 line last season.
