Bengals reserve safety George Iloka suffered an ankle injury in Monday night's game and is questionable to return.
Iloka backs up Taylor Mays but had been rumored to be pushing him for a starting job this summer. He was drafted in the fifth round out of Boise State.

The Cincinnati Enquirer lists George Iloka as a darkhorse to win the Bengals' strong safety job.
It's a bit of a surprise in that Iloka was viewed as a project coming out of Boise State. Taylor Mays will enter training camp as the starter based on seniority, but the Enquirer's Joe Reedy expects there to be an open competition. If Iloka makes an impact as a rookie, it will likely be in sub-defenses.

Bengals signed fifth-round S George Iloka to a four-year contract.
Iloka is a freak specimen at 6-foot-4, 225 with 34 1/2-inch arms, certainly possessing size to become a matchup player against the NFL's more athletic tight ends. Iloka is a shaky tackler in space, however, and not especially fluid in the hips. He is unlikely to push for significant playing time as a rookie.

Bengals selected Boise State S George Iloka with the No. 167 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.
Considered a day-two prospect in some circles, Iloka is a true center-field safety, though he'll likely be asked to play closer to the line of scrimmage than he did at Boise. A long and lean 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, Iloka also has unusually long 34.5 inch arms. He'll be limited to special teams as a rookie, but is a high-upside pick.

The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy "highly doubts" both Bernard Scott and Giovani Bernard will make the Bengals' 53-man roster.
In other words, Scott's roster spot is in jeopardy. Bernard obviously isn't going anywhere after being the first running back drafted last weekend. The Bengals re-signed Scott, 29, to a one-year deal last month. Cincinnati will likely keep four running backs: BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Bernard, special teams ace Cedric Peerman, and sixth-round pick Rex Burkhead.
