Expect Brooks to practice Wednesday afternoon for the first time since breaking his foot in August. The fourth-round pick, who was slapped with the injured reserve "designated to return" tag, isn't eligible to play in a game until Week 9.

Bills CB Ron Brooks (foot) is making good progress as his broken foot is healed and he’s begun workouts on his own.
Brooks was placed on injured reserve at the start of the season and designated as the player to return to the active roster. He isn’t eligible to return to practice with the team until six weeks have elapsed, which would be October 17th, and can’t be added to the active roster for a game until October 31st, making the Bills' Week 9 game in Houston the first game he’d be eligible to dress and play.

Bills assigned the "designated for return" tag to CB Ron Brooks (foot surgery) on injured reserve.
Players designated for return are like those on the reserve/PUP list in that they must sit out at least six weeks. Brooks, a fourth-round rookie, was expected to be sidelined at least that long after undergoing foot surgery in late August.

Bills rookie CB Ron Brooks is out indefinitely after undergoing foot surgery.
The fourth-round pick suffered the injury in Tuesday's practice. BuffaloBills.com believes Brooks could be the club's candidate to be placed on injured reserve with the possibility of being recalled. Despite a strong preseason, the majority of Brooks' snaps were expected to come on special teams.

Stevie Johnson has "no idea" when he'll be cleared from the back injury that has sidelined him since mid-April.
Johnson missed the initial phase of Buffalo's offseason conditioning program and is now sitting out full-squad OTAs. The Bills' website calls the injury a "strain." Said Johnson, "It’s just frustrating seeing the guys running around, but it’s getting better. ... I’m just doing everything that they’re telling me to. I’m doing the weight room stuff. Of course I’m inside the playbook and when they give me the green light I’ll be ready to go."

Bills TE Scott Chandler is sitting out full-squad OTAs while continuing to rehab his torn left ACL.
Chandler suffered the injury on December 23 and his training camp status is in question. The 28-year-old's role in new coach Doug Marrone's offense is also uncertain, although Buffalo did little to upgrade tight end other than draft Chris Gragg in the seventh round. Chandler's 2013 fantasy outlook is bleak.

Bills re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Mike Caussin to a one-year, $630,000 contract.
Caussin missed the entire 2012 season as he recovered from a torn ACL. Assuming he makes the roster, Cuassin will provide special teams help and insurance at tight end with Scott Chandler now dealing with an ACL tear of his own.
