Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said Alfred Morris is "as good a back as I've been around."

The theory that Morris is an unproven back so he's subject to "Shanahanigans" is unfounded. Alf more than proved himself last year by coming off the pace to win the starting job at training camp and ranking second in the NFL in yards and 12th in YPC. He raced rookie tight end Jordan Reed last week and won, confirming his long speed has returned. Reed ran a respectable 4.72 forty at the Combine. Helu made it through two days of OTAs without incident this week, and finally appears healthy enough to fight for a roster spot. With Helu, there's always the possibility of a setback, but he should be 100 percent for camp as he tries to earn third-down duties. Jun 7
	4	Chris Thompson Sidelined Redskins rookie RB Chris Thompson (torn ACL) is "more than a month away" from receiving full clearance, but is tentatively expected to be ready for training camp. "It’s something I have to be patient with," Thompson said. "But I know my time will come." A pint-sized (5-foot-7, 192 pounds) scatback, Thompson will be in the mix for third-down duties as long as he's healthy come the preseason. Jun 5

WR1	1	Pierre Garcon Sidelined Pierre Garcon is planning to wear special shoes this season to help with the torn ligament in his right foot. Garcon has opted against surgery because there's no guarantee that it will completely solve his injury. Therefore, he's looking toward pain management. "I have to learn a lot about my foot and how I run and things like that with all these injuries, but it's getting better," he said. If anywhere near 100 percent, Garcon has monster upside as an explosive "X" receiver in the Shanahan & Son offense. We'll get a better look at his progress in training camp. Jun 6

Shanahan "doesn't want" Davis to practice and instead wants to "use caution" and hold the tight end out until training camp, even though he could play in a game if he had to next week. There's no reason for the Redskins to rush Davis, but it's clear he's on track to be on the field in July. Jun 6

	3	Jordan Reed Sidelined Redskins third-round TE Jordan Reed (leg) has yet to practice at OTAs, and doesn't expect to be cleared for June's minicamp. Reed expects to be cleared in three weeks, which would have him just missing minicamp, but ready for training camp. "It’s going good," Reed said Thursday. "I’m getting stronger, getting my muscle back. That’s all I really need to do: get my muscle back and I’ll be all set." Reed could fight for targets as a rookie with Fred Davis coming back from a torn Achilles', but he's not off to a great start. May 31
