The Cardinals are considering moving OT Nate Potter to guard.
A seventh-round pick last spring, Potter ended up playing extensive snaps at left tackle, but struggled mightily. He was never going to stick on the blindside. Potter could end up a super-sub along the Cardinals' in-progress offensive line if he impresses new coach Bruce Arians.

Cardinals LT Nate Potter (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's Week 17 game versus the 49ers.
Potter will be replaced in the starting lineup by turnstile D'Anthony Batiste. It's great news for 49ers OLB Aldon Smith who is chasing the single-season sack record. The rest of the Arizona inactives are WRs Early Doucet and LaRon Byrd, QB John Skelton, FB Anthony Sherman, OL Mike Gibson, and DE Ronald Talley.

Cardinals LT Nate Potter (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's regular season finale against the 49ers.
It's the same injury Potter played through last week when he allowed three sacks to Julius Peppers. If the Cardinals are forced to start D'Anthony Batiste at left tackle, it would give Aldon Smith the best possible matchup he could have to overtake J.J. Watt for the NFL sack lead and put him in position to break Michael Strahan's all-time record. Potter hasn't missed a game since being promoted to the starting lineup in Week 11 and is capable of playing on limited practice.

The Cardinals have allowed just over two sacks per game since rookie Nate Potter replaced D'Anthony Batiste at left tackle on Nov. 18.
They had been averaging a laughable 6.5 sacks per game prior to the change. Changes to the blocking schemes have helped, along with major improvement from rookie RT Bobby Massie. Potter will get a stiff test from Julius Peppers this weekend.

Coach Bruce Arians reiterated that the running back spot is open to competition.
Rashard Mendenhall may be the slight favorite as he had his best years under Arians in Pittsburgh and will be roughly 20 months removed from his ACL tear when Week 1 rolls around. But Ryan Williams, Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington will all be in the mix as well. "You really can't tell until the lights come on," Arians said. "Some were different from this morning's walkthrough to the afternoon practice. Until you turn the lights on, you really don't know about them."
